Insider Foodie Guide To Serangoon Gardens
(Newly opened branch at Serangoon gardens!!)
Sorry I don't know the exact name of the dish, but my advice is to skip this crab meat noodles because the crab meat wasn't good :( it tasted like it was frozen and then defrosted and it really had 0 flavour. Go for the tom Yum instead, I was really pleasantly surprised by how YUMmy (LOL) it was
I've always been skeptical whenever I see the long lines at isteaks, but somehow found myself there last Sunday night (the queue was long even at 8.10pm).
After eating, I realised that it was actually pretty worth it. The sides were good (loved the crunchy potato salad) and the whole meal was quite substantial for $10. I'll be back!!
The shaved ice isn't as fine as the one at the nearby nunsongyee but it still melts in your mouth so if you aren't picky this is probably good enough. The price point might be slightly lower but it isn't as refined - not just the quality of the shaved ice but also the toppings and the milk (I think it was watered down condensed milk?). The bingsu on its own is already quite sweet so maybe skip the milk topping. I guess they're pretty new so they need to iron out some kinks! Overall, if they improved the quality of the toppings and adjusted the sweetness (so that it isn't artificially or cloyingly sweet), it's not bad!
Omg this was BOMB!!! The combination of cheese and garlic and injeomi was SO yummy we finished it in like 2 minutes. I know it's garlic powder but damn that umami flavor is strong. Also really love that they stuffed mochi in the middle!!!
Loved that the fries were crispy so they didn't get soggy from the cheese sauce!! Overall a very sinful but delicious set!! The service is also much better than at RK house.
(Update: I just recently went again and the quality of this dish deteriorated ALOT, the Maggie goreng was insanely salty and generally unpleasant)
Thai food that's affordable and good?! Definitely welcome in Serangoon Gardens!! This Pad Thai hit all the right notes with its balance of salty, sweet, and sour flavors, and the bigger portion is nearly enough for 2 (at $10 I'd say that's a steal)!!
From the newly opened (in Serangoon Gardens) Soi Thai Kitchen!! This basil pork was very tasty but slightly too spicy for me :(
There's a 30 minute wait for the claypot rice upon order and if you go there hungry, the fragrance from the kitchen and the other tables will make the wait feel like forever....but it's totally worth it because the claypot rice has a really good smoked flavor and it's super yummy!! The portion is generous, we ordered the small which was recommended for 2 pax but it was enough to feed 3. Also worth mentioning, the chicken was really tender and succulent!!
