Bar It Up, Date Night
Visited one of my favorite bars again!!!!! Haven't been here for a while that they have changed the menu since! Now they have sweet potato fries and waffle cut chili crab fries, don't you feel your mouth water from the sound of that? We tried the umami fries ($11), topped with Japanese seasoning and a mayo of some sort. Crisp, thin and tasty, this dish is a winner. The chili crab fries (around $11-14?) composed of golden brown waffle cut goodness and a sweet chili crab sauce with actual crab meat in it. Rly enjoyed myself once again especially with the happy hour drinks :-) I don't think this will be my only visit this holiday šš
Papa sim brought us to this supposedly renowned Spanish restaurant downtown and first I got to say the ambience is spot on. The dim lights, upbeat music and placement of decor was pretty inviting I would say :--))) we got a high table, a square one for 8 people (if you go as a couple I think you will have to share the high table with others, that being said the table is large enough for that not to be a problem) Like all Spanish tapas, there was a variety of foods, all in small portions but good for sharing and if you are the kind who likes to try anything but not too much of everything! We ordered the squid ink paella, saffron scampi paella, mushroom and ham croquette (the different types), steak, octopus, prawns, char grilled vegetables, pork belly and lamb~~~ mmm so satisfying šš price point is q high, perhaps it is more for a celebratory dinner or for after work drinks but definitely worth every cent
An experience worth every cent!!! Don't tell mama has a promotion currently running till the end of September where if you like and share their page, you get a one for one sojurita (essentially a bottle of soju and a margarita of your choice) this means you are saving $25!!! In addition, I went the liquid buffet ($28 for women, $35 for men) and that means free flow nachos and 9 types of margaritas!!!!! We also bought a bulgogi quesadilla ($18) and truffle fries ($8) because this place is a Korean Mexican fusion and boy were they delicious š š š the strong truffle taste coupled with the soft yet crisp fries as well as the mildly sweet but cheesy beef bulgogi quesadilla rly complemented the alcohol. No wonder this place was crowded even on a Thursday night!!!! But really, if you are looking for a place with pumped up music, an excellent ambience, tasty food and well-made drinks without putting a hole in your pocket, this is the place to go :-)
Visited The Loof for the second time yesterday and it has certainly lived up to its reputation of being one of singapore's nicest rooftop bars :-) we visited during happy hour, which means $5 drinks!!!! (From 5-5.59pm) From there it's $6 from 6-6.59pm and so on, you get the point šš¼šš¼ the mixers were definitely value for money with that distinct alcoholic taste in every sip. The food was really good too. We ordered truffle fries ($14) and power wings ($12 during happy hour, $18 after) both fried to perfection, crispy yet non-greasy, the perfect combination ^^ The Loof has definitely made its way up to the top of my list for bars :-) so anytime anyone is interested to relax after a long day, head over here!
The long awaited trip to pasarbella finally came on thurs! Except it didn't live up to my expectation :-( the ambience was good, with graffiti walls and cosy atmosphere though!! I tried Pimp My Salad, which I hate to say, was q disappointing :-( for the price, they gave extremely small portions for each ingredient you pick eg. broccoli/mushrooms, and the taste was not very redeeming either sigh. I guess the saving grace was the protein? Since I ordered a chicken breast (they gave 1 fillet so half a butterfly) for $5 but all in all, it was alright but not worth the price. The truffle shortrib bowl was good though, fragrant, wholesome, tasty except the egg was not poached well enough (I would still say it is worth the price of $14++) . I think the best deal was the sweet potato fries, $4 but a huge portion without compromising on the taste ššš outside, you'll only be able to get it for $8 or more. Perhaps I will go back for the other food stalls and hopefully my experience will be better then :-)
