Decent sushi. That California maki was spot on. But I think there's better lunch sets out there for similar or better prices. Wasn't super stoked that for a $42++ set, 6 pieces of sushi were salmon sushi. And my no-wasabi request was not heeded... which is weird cos we had excellent service - we scored the private tatami room when the hostess decided the neighboring table was too noisy.
The parents finally got to try this and they enjoyed it tremendously. $80++ for an omakase meal with what seems like countless courses (some not pictured here). Highlights of the night were the crab legs, giant sea prawn soup, and foie gras unagi combination. And the more uncommon items like barnacles and the ice plant. šÆ worth it.
Super yum.
Thin, silky smooth udon with a great bite - even the friend who doesn't like udon was a convert. Best eaten chilled. Thought sesame dipping sauce wasn't as good as the traditional soy based dipping sauce but my mind was opened after putting in the small amount of grated ginger that was provided. Super satisfying, especially with the fresh and crispy tempura.
One of the freshest and sweetest I've had. Served with seaweed for DIY assembly. Popped it in our mouths and went to heaven!
Extremely fresh and all around excellent š even the akagai, which I'm usually not a fan of, was crunchy and sweet. 100 marks for the gorgeous presentation as well.
Definitely one of the highlights of the omakase. Hot, perfectly caramelised foie gras and cool, slightly sweet hotate. Explosion of flavours and textures in the mouth.
Yeah I finally ate at Teppei after making my reservation something like 2.5 months ago. This was one of the top dishes of the night. There were some hits and misses but it was undeniably very value for money for an omakase meal (recently had an omakase at Koji which was significantly pricier and definitely not as good...). Fish was fresh, service was friendly, and food was overall very tasty. What's not to like?
