BB discount is only on the waffle, and not the ice cream or toppings. So total cost of 2 waffles came up to $21.50. That said, the waffle is quite delightful, fluffy with a buttery fragrance. But inconsistent, as our second waffle was noticeably denser than the first. Ice cream was mid. Pistachio flavour was very subtle and earl grey was better, but both are overall more sugary than creamy.
With the BB offer, we got 1-for-1 ice cream sandwiches: sea salt butterscotch & 80% dark chocolate.
The sea salt butterscotch was lightly salty and not too sweet, though a bit milder in flavour than I would have liked. The 80% dark chocolate is indeed quite dark and you can taste the bitterness of the dark chocolate. The cookie is crumbly and adds a nice textural contrast to the ice cream.
Overall, a 3.5/5 for me. Doesn't really hit my sweet spot so it's probably not something I would crave for, but I can see it being a go-to for dark chocolate connoisseurs.
Used the BB 1-for-1 deal to redeem two regular cups with two flavours each. Tried Hazelnut, Pistachio, Matcha and Vanilla. All of them are top quality! My favourite has to be Pistachio! Hazelnut is quite rich and sweet, so may overpower the milder flavours, best to pair with something like dark chocolate. For the Matcha lovers, also do note that this Matcha ice cream is also mixed with lemon, white chocolate and pistachio, so it's definitely not a "pure" Matcha flavour, but it's a very refreshing take on Matcha!
Creamier's amazing ice creams perhaps need no introduction. Every flavour is done perfectly and I haven't found a reason to complain in my 6187328 visits there. Their 1-for-1 double scoop offers on Tuesdays now is seriously such a good deal!!!! And you get to try more flavours too 😋😋
Matchaya's new mystery flavour is unprecedented. Mentaiko. Flavour is really subtle, and this still overwhelmingly tastes like vanilla ice cream. You can kind of taste a slight savouriness and a slight spiciness in the aftertaste, but it's really very slight. This is the kind of flavour you really need to pay attention to what you're eating in order to register it as mentaiko. If not, it just becomes... vanilla ice cream.
Cone: $7.50

The much hyped about sakura Soft Serve was unfortunately rather disappointing for me. This just tasted like vanilla ice cream with a very slight bitter, medicinal undertone. Except that it's pink... Which makes for a great photo anyway. So if you're not taking photos of your food, just give this a miss. It is perhaps expected since sakura by itself is virtually tasteless. I don't know if it was because my taste buds are spoilt or because everyone else has imagined a floral scent that had led to my raised expectations. I probably wouldn't travel all the way to Icon Village just for this next time.
The Pistachio éclair ($8) had a robust pistachio flavour while the sweetness of the strawberry meandered through. The Earl Grey Chocolate ($8) held a delightful light fragrance that doesn't intrude but brings out the taste of the chocolate even more. Some days, you just need to treat yourself and this is the best way to do it.
Came here because of the Burpple 1-for-1 promotion only available for the Kampung flavour. Coconut + Gula Melaka + Pandan. Gula Melaka taste came through very strongly while the coconut added a subtle complexity. Pandan was kind of lost, since it's more fragrance than taste, and doesn't work well in ice cream due to the cold temperature of the ice cream. But overall strong flavoured ice cream. Though ice cream is slightly on the icy side instead of creamy.
Sweet French Toast for $15. Can top up $1 for vanilla ice cream. It's a decent French toast, not anything I would make the trip specially for but wouldn't mind if I was in the area. I feel it's a bit expensive for what it's worth though. But maybe it's due to the target clientele being those living nearby in the landed property. Also tried the fish and chips ($17 I think) which can be topped up for truffle fries. It's a solid, standard fish and chips. But nothing special that would bring me back if I wasn't in the area. Ambience is nice and quaint and you can dine outside without melting from the heat. Service is rather laid-back though.
I love the chendol from Malaysia Boleh. It's only $2 for a small bowl, but it's just the right portion. Green worm jellies are not powdery or frozen, and kidney beans are firm and soft without being mushy. And it's a small enough portion such that the ice doesn't melt so fast that you end up drinking cold coconut milk.
The cafe was initially a bit hard to find (it's co-located with Stateland). Service is pretty brusque, personally. We got the Salted Egg Mocha Bursts ($15). There is a choice of two flavours this month, cookie butter and Tokyo banana, we went with cookie butter. I was pleasantly surprised how soft and creamy the soft serve was. I also really liked the lotus biscuit taste in the cookie butter which was not too overpowering. The salted egg mochi balls were average I think. The mochi balls are fun to eat and the salted egg custard flowing out when cut open is always very satisfying. But it was more custard than salted egg and I was kind of expecting a stronger salted egg flavour. Although I thought the flavours would clash, the sweetness of the salted egg custard made it work. Really enjoyed this dessert anyway and definitely will come back to try more!
