Fresh from the Sea
It's abit strange to me that it was served on top of a HUGE portion vegetables stir fry with corn, chickpeas and tomato as it tasted very chinese. I didn't touch the veg after trying a taste of it, the western style salmon just doesnt seem to match the veg. Very much prefered the previous way that they served it, with a generous serving of lemon butter. Please bring it back! I hope 😕
My first visit here as my other half finally decided to bring me along 🙃and i must say it was a pleasant experience! We started with a lobster bisque with topped with brandy. Nicely concocted with european lobster which we were told makes the bisque sweeter, and indeed it left a delectable sweet aftertaste. Then came the littleneck clams (you can ask for this dry version though in the menu it states steamed), 8 pieces of giant prawns simply grilled with sea salt and served with salted egg dip 😱 and 300g of pan fried barramundi. I ❤️ the tender fish with the crispy skin, and not much seasoning was required as the fish was really fresh! We were pretty much full at this stage but the housemade gula melaka sorbet with sea salt was too intriguing to be missed. Loved it. Sweetness was just right though the texture was a tad too coarse, i enjoyed it as it reminded me of the gula melaka drenched part of icekachang! Am glad i finally made it to Naked Finn 🐟🍤🍧
Crunchy prawns in mildly spicy lemon sauce, sedap!
Lovely presentation, generous serving of cod, miso added a delightful taste to the cod
I ❤️ fish so when i saw cod on the menu, i went ahead to order w/o checking the sides/sauce. So i was surprised that it was served with this masala veloute which tasted like curry! Interesting combination but cod didnt have the creamy taste (prob ttz y they paired with a stronger tasting sauce). Think i still prefer their barramundi with dashi.
Roasted cod with tomato anchovy sauce. Cod lacked the creamy cod taste, kinda bland. Very generous serving though.
Crispy skin + dashi stock that pairs well with the barramundi + sago to "play" with by dipping it into the stock + fresh barramundi = i will be back
I've tried ocean trout but not coral trout, and i wasn't aware that the difference in the 2 is so great. Ocean trout tasted more like salmon, more to my liking. Coral trout was...tough. The emulsified butter sauce was supposed to have sea urchin but i tasted none. It's a waste. Previously their fish dish was barramundi with clam jus and a generous serving of caviar. Bring that back please.
It doesn't have the creamy cod taste, but it was tender and fresh. What seemingly looked like mashed potato is actually celery root. Interesting!
My mains took 30min to be served, it wasn't warm, and the cod was bland. No miso taste except for the miso paste served at the side. Not worth $48 for sure, there are better ones out there
Black Swan has recently made a slight change to its menu and the barramundi dish was not a let down. Crispy skin, soft and fresh fish paired with a light and delish green papaya n pineapple salsa. Delight.
Crispy skin lovers, you gotto try this. Fish was nicely done, confit tomato bursting with sweetness, lovely.
