I ordered the version with egg, ham & cheese because I'm greedy like that! They will add a layer of spicy sauce & savory brown sauce. The freshly pan fried prata with those crispy surfaces and the addition of common favorites was something I knew I would like even before trying - and I'm glad that I really did!
Just across the road from Smoothie House is this prata stall. Just look at all the fluffy crispy looking pratas! Almost drooled just by looking & smelling 😋
Hop over to the famous 永康街 for your shaved ice fix in this hot summer! This is the super fruits mango snowflake ice that has the combination of kiwi, strawberries & mangoes. I love the mango sorbet/ice cream on top - the texture is somewhat between sorbet & ice cream. Fine shaved ice never disappoints, just be sure to go during non peak hours to avoid the crowd!
I like my ramen, even in Taipei! We tried their signature tonkatsu ramen and they really aced it! It is a customizable ramen for the different components similar to Ichiran. Expect thick creamy soup broth that can coat the noodles nicely. Please choose the pork belly for the meat as it was incredibly tender with the right amount of fats!
Little bags of explosive happiness!! The skin was not too thick, filled with a lot of soup stock & makes a satisfying slurp! A good alternative that is popular amongst the locals if you don't want to squeeze with the crowd at din tai fung.
Happy swirls of matcha & milk soft serve accompanied by a variety of toppings. You can find mochi balls, red bean, cornflakes, green tea jelly in this seemingly small cup!!
We immediately called for additional orders of sunny side ups. What we got was this - that perfect wobbly yolk and crispy whites on the side. I'm sold 😸
Super delish 滷肉飯!!! Conveniently located at ximending near hao da da, you have to visit it when you're in Taipei! Using only lean meat, the braised meat still attains the "melt in your mouth" kind of goodness. Sauce is slightly peppery and salty, but this is what I want with my white rice! The sunny side up here is a must-add. Ask for it to be half done, and let the yolk flow in. The gooey yolk thickens up the rice a little and makes you want to gobble up the whole bowl at once!
Okay, the presentation doesn't quite make it because it melted so profusely & the pudding just refused to stay on top! Anyhows, having a shaved ice at a night market is always a good idea. I've had this 5 years ago, and it still taste the same now! You can expect very fine fluffy shaved ice and lots of homely vibes from this family-run stall 👌
This rolled egg omelette is simply made for egg lovers! Watch the staff prepare it by switching the fire on and off multiple times as he made use of the heat to let the egg mixture come together and keeping the omelette slightly molten on the inside! We appreciate the sweet tasting egg with the original toppings which include corn, mayonnaise, seaweed and bonito flakes. No problem in finishing despite being very full!
That is a little different from the Singapore version. Drenched with an orange sauce which had a nutty taste to it, I actually liked it because it made the whole dish taste less oily!
This is a Taiwanese favorite snack, where you can spot so many scooters which came by to pick this up for supper. We got some duck wings, chicken wings, meat balls & quail eggs to go with some Taiwan beer. The braise was just right - not too salty or heavy tasting. But it was served cold which wasn't that much to my liking!
