Just Chillin'
Whatās better than a great rooftop view, chill vibes, great service and an awesome company? DELICIOUS DRINKS!!! This Watermelon cocktail ($20) is a signature drink here at Mr Stork and itās so yummy. Slightly savory, equally balanced with sweetness and with the right alcoholic kick, I finished it a little faster than I would have liked. Those who enjoy salty drinks, a similar taste profile to umeshu, would loveeee this.
And to top up the awesomeness of the place, they serve their drinks with paper straws!!! Three thumbs up!!!
Funky name for a bespoke cocktail bar. Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall was highly recommended to me by a cocktail junkie, but I left with a slight disappointment. No idea what this drink is called, but I asked for something citrusy with gin as a base. Smooth but strong it was, but ok, being a girl I really like umeshu drinks so this is not exactly my favourite. I still prefer Horse's Mouth haha.
Was a highly anticipated meal, since the restaurant was helmed by Artichoke chef, Bjorn Shen. But unlike its sister restaurant, the meal was a tad disappointing, especially with it's price tag (approx $40/head). That said, it should have been expected from its location - situated at Ann Siang Hill, and it's unique selling point of being the only mod Thai street food place in Singapore. I say, give it some time to fine tune its dishes. Maybe there'll be a better second visit!
Oh Honey fared so much better than the Mango Sticky Rice flavour for all of us at the table. We loved how the slight sourish tones complemented the sweet white chocolate coating, and how the granola adds a faint aroma to the whole dessert. Each pop comes at a price of $8.
Couldn't decide which 'bird' to get on the menu, so we got both - Deep fried (BFC) and BBQ (Isaan BBQ chicken). A lemongrass half chicken smothered in a 'jaew' BBQ sauce, I liked that it was tender and slightly more flavourful than the BFC. Also, as the bird is cooked perfectly to 75 degree Celsius, I heard concerns of it being uncooked. But fret not, it's perfectly safe for consumption. And honestly, it didn't look too pink for me!
Tastes so much like a burger- overwhelmingly beefy, with lots of chewy rice bits. Personally I felt it tastes pretty good, but sure can get gelat after a few mouthfuls. This Big Mac Fried Rice ($24) comes with 120g of Wagyu beef, so I guess you're kind of paying for the quality of ingredients in there.
This Bangkok Fried Chicken ($22) tastes great on the outside, not so much on the inside. While its covered with a crispy, aromatic batter, the meat was on the bland side. Where's the flavourful marinade that's characteristic of all fried chickens in Bangkok? To salvage it, you can dump the whole wing in the green chilli nam jin on the side for a little more flavour.
Note: came with extremely high expectations for this. I love everything corn so when I read so many rave reviews of this Umami Corn ($10), of course I was anticipating something REALLY mind-blowing. Turns out to be decent, not exceptional. Granted, the corn was sweet and decently grilled. The siracha mayo was pretty shiok too, but it was still lacking something. Probably I was expecting it to be so much like the dubious yet insanely yummy grilled corns along Bali beaches.
Brought to you by the guys from The Drinkery, this selection of craft beer is as good as it looks! From the Sharkinator (fruity base with hops) to the Black House (stout infused with coffee !!!!!), each beer was charming, unique and super easy to drink. For a Lager person, I actually really loved the fruity undertones and coffee aftertaste in the Black House. Definitely bringing my stout-loving friends there to try it!
Because I couldn't find the truffle in the truffle fries ): so I paid $10 for fries. Ouch.
And totally in love with the chill vibes here. Dressed like a canteen, Lepark takes on a self service concept with lots of interesting items on the menu. But we still went with spam fries ($8) and truffle fries ($10).... And of course a jug of Asahi ($35) to wash down the guilt.
Welcoming 2016 with a spunky drink on hand- Tiger Blood Daisy. Tequila, sour plum, lime and ginger beer were put together for this wicked, tangy and ladylike drink. Choya/ sour plum lovers, give this a shot.
