If you’ve travelled to the US, you might’ve seen Panda Express, the American style economic rice. Chao sells food in a similar style, choose a base like sweet potato, ee fu noodles, rice , a meat, a side and a sauce for $6. It’s $3 per serving if you have burpple beyond!!

For the meat, I tried the kung pao chicken which wasn’t spicy. The chicken meat was breast meat. The ee fu noodles were springy but slightly bland, I think the idea is to drizzle the provided sauce onto the food to add flavour to the noodles. I tried the lemon sauce which was tad to sour for me.

The wasabi mayo fried chicken wasn’t crispy but it was at least better tasting than the kung pow chicken. Definitely going for that, the next time I’m ordering Chao. Service staff are friendly! There’s like 10 seats which are bar top style dinning. It’s really a hole in the wall shop, meant for takeaway. I like the concept!

A traditional delicacy enjoyed during Chinese New Year. Using only large red dates, it is first boiled and subsequently made into a puree. Besides just red dates, coconut is also added into the mix. These cakes are sticky in texture and have a lemak fragrance and taste. I attempted to eat the cake layer by layer and failed. This was my first time trying it and it’s definitely not my last. It’s good!!

Our smoked chicken is based off a traditional Hong Kong recipe. East Bistro chooses to use only Kampung chicken for its tender meat, the chicken is steamed to retain the moisture and its natural flavours. Check out the details of the meat texture, it’s so soft!

Thank you @nahmj and @woonwoonpekbeehoon the invite :) Review : https://cptslowyeo.wordpress.com/2016/08/06/woonwoonpek

:) loving the late night dim sum options. All at just under $1.80 per basket! Swee Choon has nothing on this! Not to mention, no queue, reasonable food quality, easy to park.

🍦
They specialize in hot or cooling Taiwanese dessert and what we have here is a bowl of Snow Fungus Soup with Wolfberries $4.80
🍦
Their tapioca balls are so huge because each of them have a red bean inside of them! But because all the balls are so huge, some were inconsistent in texture. The soup was refreshingly cooling and the staff were generous with the ingredients. 🍦
I highly recommend sharing. All the desserts here are priced at $4.80 and below.

At this one month old Mongkok dim sum that opens till 2am on weekdays! It's the same one as Geylang Road Lorong 18! Rejoice friends who live along Upp Bukit Timah!

The noodles were chewy and the broth was thick with a strong meaty aroma!
