thunder tea before another 1.5 week in myanmar dining and working. this pure vegetarian bowl ($8.50) has fried mushroom stems instead of dried anchovies (ikan bilis) and the texture is as good and even tastier. mix is of balanced clean taste and the fluorescent hulk green tea here is really meant for thunder tea fans!

been eating much from this stall for my lei cha fix recently. full vegetarian mode, so yeah to no dried shrimps. was hoping for winged beans but no matter, is still good a sweet lei cha variant. addition of red beans in the mix help to feel full, so go easy on the rice serving. served by a forever-karaoke chap who has no qualms belting out highway to hell in front of his customers. ha
when you cny feast too much, you lei cha. little oil or if not no oil at all with sweet notes in the rice mix throughout. and the tea behind, they meant business when they say detox.
yesterday's pizza and beer binging, today's semblance of order. light tea affair and balanced taste means it appeals to the who-dares-to-try thunder tea folks. what? can't hear you. you have to speak up, am having THUDER tea rice now you know. ha.. ha..
because binging to stay awake the past few nights, today's lunch situation - thunder tea rice. happy food to cheer myself up
today moi alone salesman lunch situation: lei cha. this famous stall for lei cha is saltier and the omelette came a tad oilier. but finding a lei cha stall is as hard as it is, so i should be contented. a man beside me had a disgusted look when i ate this heartily. lol. realised this is either a love or hate relationship. there is simply a no in-between. period.
my eat clean today with lei cha. so they say pine tree is good, so travel i come to try. boldest tasting fried cai-por (preserved radish) among the lei chas i ate, but lends a lovely saltiness to the mix. ingredients are simple at best (wait, no winged beans??) and the mix with rice are enough to eat on its own. tea was smooth but nothing spectacular. definitely a healthy pleaser for the office crowd there but travel again for another bowl? na, there are better and nearer choices in the west.
i tried 雷茶 once but the in-your-face raw veg smell simply puts me off. this totally hits home for me. well balanced and not too empowering. puts u in a damnnnn good mood after chowing this down too! what can i say, am a convert!
at this rate, my severe infatuation with thunder tea probably requires some clinical help. LOL. so my quest continues to determine if NTU indeed serves the best. this jurong west stall is also famous for this hakka originated dish. a really close contender but again, i think the word is refine. to me, ntu have successfully make this carousel of vegetables and tea sexy and artisan. anyhow, ntu or not, what can be a better feeling for lunch when each mouthful is to detox, lose weight, and gives a clearer complexion right
when u had a taste of heaven, mortal grub just doesnt seem to do. yea that kind of comparison to that at NTU. rice mix is alright if not for the anchovies taste that is a bit overwhelming. tea wise?simply not as refine and delicate as NTU's. is like the makers at NTU had the tea mix so balanced, so precise, it is at molecular level. LOL. plus the swarm murky green here just does not appeal. having said that, it is still decent. i admit, i am just openly biased here. "雷茶” at NTU still reign supreme for me as far as i am concerned.
so my very clean taste lei cha at ntu is no more but hey i found another new love at boon lay market! this comes with dried shrimps and packs a punch to the taste. more savory and very rustic homey. again, a good lei cha delights my day. p.s: do ask for a fried fish cake if you are there early for lunch. really completes the meal.
quite mad.. this is like my 4th time within 10 days? once avoiding it a like plague even at the onset of the smell, i am so addicted to "雷茶” now. but strictly swear by this stall only yo. there should be a scientific study to see if 雷茶 makes you feel good for the rest of the day man, cause yours truly here is feeling so wonderful. LOL
