The cosy restaurant was packed with locals even before 6pm when we arrived - a good indication of its authenticity. We thoroughly enjoyed the piping hot Gamja Tang Signature pork rib stew ($46) which was deliciously flavourful and rich #burpple

Lunch spread today, and we tried #jjimdak for the first time. So awesome, especially when both this & the army stew were at 51% off! Snagged this deal before it ends on 31 Aug ✌🏼️ #burpple #foodporn #foodspotting

Yesterday's lunch was the personalised Bibimbap from Joo Bar because I had been thinking of eating it again for goodness knows how long! On this visit, I created mine with purple rice adorned with tender chunks of spicy chicken, minced kimchi, Korean beansprouts, sweet corn and a soy dressing which was served on the side. Still can't believe this huge portion (which comes in a massive heavy iron bowl that keeps the food warm for longer) only cost me $10.90++! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

We have always wanted to try this place but the queue was always quite long. The restaurant was at least 1/3 filled with koreans when we were there, which must mean that the food is rather authentic! Definitely worth the try. He had the marinated pork chop, and I had the soybean paste tofu stew with beef. The side dishes were yummy too. #koreanfood #kimbap #doenjangjjigae #sgeatout #sgeats #sgfoodie #instafood_sg #burpple #sgigfoodies

In front of me were a group of ahjummas (with the signature permed hair and colourful windbreakers) chattering away excitedly, taking photos of the queue and them being in the queue. I figured, wow if this comes from their homeland and they're still willing to wait this long for it then it must really be something right?
Masizzim the name is a compound word which means "delicious stew". Sorry friends, I don't eat beef, so we went for the pork rib stew. Here are the key experiences:
- Fall off the bone meat
- Full-flavoured thick gravy
- Scraping the bottom of the pot at the end (don't waste the meat!)
Final verdict: μ§„μ§œλ§›μžˆλ‹€!
We also had the squid and leek pancake which was light and crisp, one of the better versions I've had in Singapore. The tuna rice balls were fun for us to roll (cue in ball jokes) though most of them were misshapen and probably too big to pop into our mouths whole (cue in "that's what she said").
The cost of the meal surprised us all: even without my voucher from #Burpple (weee thanks!), it was less than $80 for a double-portion stew, two bowls of tuna rice, pancake, sikkye drink - aka a really full dinner.
Guess I'll join the ahjummas again some day.

With Seorae's newly-launched Late Night Dining promotion, there's all the more reason to indulge in a good meal on any week night. When you dine in from 8.30pm onwards, you get to pick either 2 complimentary glasses of soju (worth $20) or a complimentary Patbingsoo (if you spend $60 and above). During dinner last night, we feasted on several dishes of theirs and I must say, I was impressed by the overall quality of the food here. Below is a shortlist of the items that stood out for me personally:

1) Magnificent Meats: Besides the fact that all their meats are air-flown from the U.S., Seorae offers the Galmaegisal, a signature cut of pork that is unique to them. It is available in variants of original, garlic and spicy ($21.90++/$22.90++). Because this special pork is the "star" on the menu, the grilling of it is done by their staff as they've undergone training to cook it the ideal way. The most delightful part is that after barbecuing, these pieces of pork can also be, if you like, rolled in hot, melted cheese that's been quietly bubbling away along the outer rim of the sizzling grill. So the end result is an addictive combo of smoky, juicy pork and oozy cheese - absolute deliciousness! If you are more of a "moo" than "oink" person, rest assured your appetite will be thoroughly sated with the likes of Woosamgyeob (Beef Belly, $24.90++), LA Galbi (Crossbreed-Angus Beef Ribs: $29.90++) and Jinkkotsal (Wagyu Boneless Short Ribs, $37.90++). Every one of them was excellent.

2) Hangjeongsal (Pork Neck, $21.90++): Seductively tender and fat-free, I found these pieces of succulent pork probably the most impossible to resist of all the meats laid out before us last night.

3) Bibim Naengmyeon ($12.90++): The first and last time I had Korean cold noodles of this sort was more than a decade ago in Seoul. And because I didn't like it then, I've avoided it since. Until last night at least, when it turned out that I totally dug Seorae's version. The spicy sauce used for the cold noodles here is very appetising and strongly spicy. Although I was feeling stuffed by the time this dish arrived, I couldn't stop myself from continuously picking at it while waiting for our desserts to be served.

4) Haemul Pajeon (Seafood and Green Onion Korean Pancake, $17.90++): A pleasant balance of light fluffiness and a crispy finish, the pancake was plumped up with rather large pieces of seafood. I liked this best soaked in a lot of the accompanying tangy, savoury dip.

5) Sundubu Jjigae ($14.90++): What makes this tofu soup stand out is the addition of minced pork and clams, which help sweeten the soup considerably. Also, it seems more substantial than most soups due to all the ingredients.

6) Bingsoo: We tried three flavours and they were good in their own way. The Sinsa Patbingsoo (Honeydew, $14.90++) was the most refreshing (well, fruit-based desserts tend to be) while the Namdaemun Bingsoo (Coffee Jelly, Rum & Raisin, $12.90++) was rich with an alcoholic touch. Initially, I was worried that the Apgujeong Bingsoo (Cheese, $14.90++) would be too heavy but surprise, surprise, it turned out to be light with a delicate sweet and savoury mix of cheese.

Note: This was an invited tasting by Seorae Korean Charcoal Grill Restaurant.

Price :$8.90 Ordered extra spicy sauce (korean-standard). It's extremely taste nice and the rice cake very chewy. Sure will back for this again ☺️

MY FAVOURITE. Generously filled with lots of seafood - squid, prawns, clams, crabs! Also with beansprouts, ricecake, ramyeon. Super fresh and sooooo good. Good for a table of 3, top up extra ramyeon, dong fen, etc.

$7.50, quite well worth the price just look at the amount of ingredients in it. Ingredients were fresh, and the soup was so flavourful without being overly salty like the ones I had in Korea. Pretty sure it's adapted for local but I'm not complaining. Relatively cheaper eats in town.

$8. A very harmonious dish, everything tasted pretty good together and beef was well marinated!
