Hidden Gems In Klang Valley
Grilled chicken and avocado sandwich with salsa. Eggs Falmenco.
Another happy croissant customer due to its flakey-ness and buttery flavour. But I didn't know it was a croissant sandwich (didn't read the menu properly) but I would've switched it to whole grain or sourdough for a healthier meal. Avocados and some juicy tender chicken is always a win though. Love how generous they are with the avocados! I think there was about half a 'cado in there. Explains the price!
Eggs flamenco is another style of baked eggs. Cheese-less, and with gorbanzo beans/chickpeas. Really nice savoury dish to dip your whole grain soldiers in the delicious flowy yolk-porn.
Food: 8/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 18 for sandwich; RM 21!!! For eggs. Mannn my whole bill came up to RM 54 for these few items including a croissant and long black. Thank god there's free table water to save some cash)
PS. Will definitely come back for croissants during tea! Very limited seating inside. Very humid and hot on bad days outside. They should invest in fans! #FWP?
I've always wanted to visit Pulp but never got the chance to. It's hard to find because the signboard is so small that you can easily miss it. But once you know where it is it's actually very easy to find (don't get confused by this messy statement lol)
Their best seller is the carrot cake. We managed to grab the last piece and you bet we enjoyed it to the last crumb. My first time try a carrot cake too! And I love it. The cake was not too sweet and the frosting was delicious as well. Not sure what frosting but I assume it's cream cheese.
Another best seller is their bakes cheese cake. I was contemplating on the chocolate truffle moist cake or this. I went for a lighter one because I was having two cakes and testing two lattes. Cheesecake is delicious! Almost as close to my favourite half-baked cheesecake from Komugi. It was so fluffy and the cake shape is quite cute! Haha
Since it was me and my cafe-hop buddy of the day first time at PULP, the barista was kind enough to recommend us coffee. So we went for Pulp's signature, the ristretto latte and throwback latte on his recommendations.
I prefer ristretto. The coffee has a sweet caramelised taste to it. Not fruity nor acidic. The beans were roasted well. Milk and coffee blended perfectly. I had no complains.
Throwback latte was good as well. Although slightly more acidic but it had one of my favourite coffee notes DARK CHOCOLATE! I dislike fruity and acidic coffees. So these two were perfect.
Their famous cold brew is not bad too! Definitely much better than the tester I had from Standing Theory in Publika Coffee Expo. I could taste more sweetness here. Another reason could also be the ice that diluted it a bit. But Pulp is more generous with coffee in this bottle rather than a gimmicky test tube!
I'll definitely come back Pulp!
Food & coffee: 9/10 Price: 8/10 (cakes: RM 12; Cold Brew RM 10; lattes RM 10)
But it's a must to review on this. Another of my favourite cafe but it's really a hassle to look for parking and go through the traffic to reach this place.
Anyways! I love the variety offered. Some may not like open faced sandwiches but I think it's a great concept to taste a variety of sandwich flavours without being too stuffed.
I had avocado and egg, BLT, apple with caramel and almond bits, pesto chicken and orange, and caramelised banana with peanut butter.
Was so tempted to have all 10 choices! But I wanted to try other things on the menu so I limited myself to 5. I shouldn't have ordered the common ones like avocado and egg or the banana and peanut butter toast because I can do it fairly well at home. Go for the special sandwiches like pesto chicken and orange or the apple and caramel. They're amazing! I don't like pesto but this was an exception. Grilled chicken was very tender and the orange matches well with the pesto. BLT is very basic as well. But the bacon crisps gave a good crunch along with fresh lettuce.
Everything is served on white baguette. The sides were quite hard though. And you will definitely get messy with bits and pieces falling off the sandwich as you take a bite.
Will go back to try another 5! I'm so excited with miniatures and varieties. Open faced sandwich is also another reason to eat more with "less carbs" right? š
Food: 8/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 6 for one, RM 25 for 5 - it is quite pricey for one and it just gets slightly cheaper for 5. But still, about RM 5 for one sandwich is rather expensive too. But the portion isn't too bad! The sandwich baguette is not your usual small ones but it's slightly larger. You'll be stuffed by the end of the fifth piece if you're having it alone and have a small appetite. Luckily I shared! Underestimated the size of the sandwich š¬) P/S. Bad lighting here though. Couldn't snap a picture to my liking. š
Only thing missing is baked beans!! I didn't really like this platter because everything was very salty. Scrambled were good though. Mushroom was sautƩed with onions with great seasoning. But still, I think the chef was too generous on salt and pepper. The sausage was also store bought. I wasn't satisfied with it.
Food: 6/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 22 - wow! KL price. Costs you a bomb doesn't it? It isn't too bad as its a basic price for most big breakfasts but based on the ingredients, it should cost lower than that I feel. Store bough sausages, eggs, mushroom and onions, tomatoes, and only thing extra expensive is the bacon.) P/S: I recommend going for their open faced sandwiches instead because that's what they're most popular for.
Good price. Amazing coffee. Nice environment. This cafe is a very relaxing place for tea and time to yourself. Some people come here to have a peace of mind and do their work. Be careful though. Millenium Square is quite a secluded complex and not many people come here. Most people com for dinner here at Piccadilly Restaurant. Worth visiting Coffee Good Golly Miss Molly though! Even the song is so joyous.
How to get there:
Look for Millenium Square complex at Section 14 Petaling Jaya. Very close to Jaya Shopping Center. The cafe is just opposite Menara Jaya Condo.
It's rather hard to find this pretty little cafe hidden right inside a public pool and recreational center. But it's very easy once you find the public pool!
How to get there:
Situated right behind the A&W opposite Amcorp Mall PJ. Look for PJ Palms Sports Center, they have a very huge sign board. Jam & Kaya is right in there. Ask the parking uncle for Jam & Kaya and he will direct you there by walking through the mamak restaurant and all the way straight where the cafe is located at. He knows it well because most people come here just for the cafe and for a swim (occasionally). š
Jam & Kaya is a house turned into a cafe. Right next to another cafe called "SWAG".
[NON-HALAL]
Located right inside Ben's Independent Grocer at Publika, you will not see it but you hear people talking about it a lot. One of the few restaurants by the Big group that serves pork.
How to get there: In B.I.G Publika, search for and enter into the non-halal deli section after the fridge and ice cream isles (also before alcohol isles), S.Wine will be on your right in the deli.

I consider Podgy & the Banker hidden because Jalan Sri Hartamas 8 where P&B is located is rather deep in Hartamas and Podgy's big sign board is not really facing the main road. I would've missed it if I didn't turn to my right at the corner.
How to get there: Podgy and the Banker will be on the right after the second left of Jalan Sri Hartamas 8 if you're coming from Sprint highway. Nearby the Backyard Pub. WAZE through your way. Trust that cute little cloud. It's a corner lot shop.

You smell bread, but where is it from?!
Located right inside Jalan Setiakasih 5 of Damansara Heights. Humbly hidden inside a housing area with a few other shop lots.
How to get there: Turn right into Jalan Setiakasih 5, don't be afraid but drive straight on. Slow down and turn into the first right. You will see Decanters right after you turn. Bread Shop is right next to it!
Now you can feast on yeast. š

TLP doesn't have a huge sign board. It is humbly written on its main door entrance. But it is also another cafe hidden inside a grocery store!
How to get there: A restaurant with black exterior. Entrance from Bangsar Village ONE outdoor parking, right after car park and ticketing entrance from Jalan Telawi. Restaurant is on your left. Another alternative is to enter Village Grocer opposite Boost Juice bar, walk straight and the entrance to TLP is after the bakery.

Near Pavilion. Near Lot 10. Near Bukit Bintang. Where on Earth is Feeka?!
Yes it is in Bukit Bintang but because of Feeka's little signboard, it's easy to miss it. More precisely, Jalan Mesui is around Changkat Bukit Bintang.
How to get there: From Jalan Raja Chulan, turn right into Jalan Nagasari after the Spain Embassy. Then turn on the second right into Jalan Mesui. Feeka will be on your left, next to Table 23 cafe. Slow down and keep an eye on your left for Feeka, a white cozy shop. It is also adjacent to a mamak restaurant if I'm not mistaken.

I classify Inside Scoop a hidden gem in Bangsar because it is very hard to spot at first. It is a very little ice cream shop squeezed in between two larger shops. Their small ice cream cone shaped logo as a sign board does not help either because is covered by larger big bullies. Hahah
How to get there: Enter from the gigantic stationary store Czip Lee. Inside scoop is on your right, same row as Czip Lee, in between Ashley's and Nosh Restaurant.
