Chinese Food
This "liao" many many lor mee would be good! 😋 Fried Fish Lor Mee ($4) from Penang Kitchen, Amoy Street Food Center. I realised many lor mee stores in Amoy, and didn't know which on was good. Settled for this store cause I was too hungry 😂 Thick yellow noodles splashed with that starchy thick gravy, topped with wu xiang, pork belly, egg, fried fish and special crisp that was really fragrant when you mixed in with the gravy.
In addition, their condiments are added by yourself, which mean as much chili, minced garlic or vinegar as you like!
And boy oh boy, I loved its presentation, springiness of the noodles, sauce, Chilli, fresh dumplings.... Actually everything.
Homemade fried beancurd (love the smooth texture & slightly eggy taste), topped with a minced meat & golden mushrooms sauce, perfect complement to white rice ($8)
I confess I may be slightly obsessed with Straits Express Restaurant + Bar. Within the space of four days, I have been there three times. My excuse is their menu is extensive with so many dishes I want to try! So, on my third visit tonight, not counting the dishes we had to order again because we liked them a lot on our previous trip, here're four new ones (shown clockwise from top left):
Achar: I loved this because it's sour, crunchy and fragrant enough to (almost) match the one my Peranakan maternal grandma use to make.
Brinjal with Pork Floss: The big wedges of battered and deepfried brinjal were surprisingly not oily. Instead, they were light, crunchy and very aromatic from the generous amount of curry leaves.
Penang Curry Chicken: This was spicy but had a different smell and taste from our Singapore style of curry chicken. It did not seem to have any coconut milk despite the thick texture of the curry. I liked it but not everyone was a fan.
Babi Pongteh: This deserves to be Burppled again because it's THAT GOOD. Voted top dish of the night by our group of diners.
Best crab Beehoon ever!!!! The Beehoon was very well simmered resulting it being very flavorful. Also the shiokest salted egg Boston lobster 😋😋 their signature soon hock with minced meat and tofu was also super fresh 👌👌
Time to do some spamming.
I will be introducing my list of must-eats whenever I visited Seafood Paradise.
Three types of egg giving the dish three different dimension in Term of taste, smell and vision.
The egg gave the dish a light golden coloring. Made the look of the dish more classy. Most importantly, the egg was soft like silk wrapping the gravy with the Chinese spinach.
The century egg provided the color contrast. Black diamond in the mid of green jade and gold. The alkaline from the century egg actually helped to soften the toughness of the Chinese spinach creating the balance in the dish.
The saltness of the salted egg combined with the stock giving the dish a very refine saltness. It was not other dish whereby I can only taste the dish is "salty". It might seem like a easy dish but the timing every ingredient is different. All of them can't be throw into a pot at the same time, you will never able to get this kind of texture and consistency.

My favourite of all time! The thick soup broth is the reason why I'm always back for more. Not only is the soup broth good, their juicy fish cakes works as appetizers while you wait in line for your noodles. Remember to come early, otherwise you may spend another 15-30 minutes waiting for seats!
Formerly from Longhouse Food Centre on Upper Thompson Road, this famous stall is now selling its delicious fried banana, fried "chempedak" and whole repertoire of other fried goodies at Balestier Market. They are incredibly crunchy and are as delicious as ever. I really like the lightness of their batter which surprisingly, is not as oily as you'd expect.
Today's the day to try food that has shifted from their original place. Next up is the Long House Prawn Mee! I miss you prawn meeeee! What's good about this is the prawns, fat & juicy though it's just the normal prawn mee (S$5)! The difference is that the soup base has the taste of pork ribs more than the prawn shells, so it isn't as thick as the usual. But it's still good nonetheless!
A modification of the usual Katong Laksa. The hae bi taste is just right, together with the Nonya Otah which costs only $0.60! My laksa craving is satisfied!
good vegetarian food over here!! worth the try!!! am gonna post a few dishes :)
