Featuring the same moist crumb as the original banana custard cake, this one has a layer of sweet-and-sour strawberry jam beneath an adorable strawberry imprint.
He's a real sweetie.
Chanced upon the outlet in Daimaru Tokyo, much to my delight. Now I can has the Tokyo box to add to my London and Paris counterparts!
In love with the colour and moist, plush texture!
The egg custard flecked with bits of seaweed was so soft that every spoonful melted into a puddle in my mouth.
Opted for the omakase set (4,000¥ = 50SGD), which includes 10 pieces of nigiri/maki chosen by the chef, and any one piece of your choice. The fish was so impossibly fresh, and I don't know where else to get such divine sushi (we're talking uni, ootoro, mackerel, scallops...the expensive stuff, alright) at such prices. Awed and humbled.
Three days ago in Kyoto. 🍦😋
I usually prefer to post on chronological order, but this is too good not to share now. The creamy tonkotsu broth spiced with a special house red sauce was just divine; thin Hakata noodles had just the right bite and of the perfect length for slurping (I ordered mine firm); flimsy slices of pork trimmed with melt-in-the-mouth fat were impeccably tender; soft-boiled egg was cooked just so the yolk inside was neither too hard nor too runny, but gooey. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Such a welcome feast after a fast of 16 hours filled with transit, shopping and walking on high-heeled booties (what was I thinking?!). But I must say I wasn't blown away - I can easily find equally good yakitori (my fave: Nanbantei) and sashimi (Sushi Kuu) in Singapore.
But one clear standout of the night was the half-grilled tuna, fatty bricks of rare-in-the-middle fish that melted in the mouth. Orgasmic.
