Another must order dish is their Signature San Lou Beehoon, which was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Pair it with sambal belacan chilli for the best taste experience!
Tried the Malacca Seafood Cheese Bee Hoon from Penang Culture and i enjoyed the unique combination of cheese and fresh seafood (prawns, sotong & lala) cooked in a flavourful, savoury stock. Served in a huge portion that can be shared among 2 to 3 pax, bring your family or friends down for a satisfying meal along with other accompanying side dishes!
Zoey’s Diner is a new fast-dining concept cafe in Compass One Sengkang that serves burgers, salads and more in a cosy setting.
Their range of burgers, which they affectionately refer to as Baobae, include the delicious Pepper Braised Steak, which is very tender and flavourful with a melt in your mouth texture! That is because they sous-vide the Australian braised shortribs for 12 hours overnight to achieve that tender perfection!
Other Baobaes to check out are the Morning Ham & Egg, Sambal Fried Fish and Crispy Ebi Cake
Another recommended dish is the Fish and Chips with Alscampi Sauce. The fish is crispy on the outside while soft and tender inside. The portion of the fish is also very sizable, and you also get to choose 2 side dishes. The creamy sauce also comes with mussel and prawns! If you’re looking for something real filing and value for money, this is a great choice!
49 Seats has been in the local F&B scene since 2012, serving fusion style cuisines with a local twist at affordable prices.
Their signature dish (and also my personal favourite) is the Tom Yum Seafood Pasta, which has a good balance of spicy and savoury. For spicy food lovers, you can even challenge yourself by requesting for level 49 spiciness, which i personally have not tried.
A very decent plate of beef rendang nasi lemak found at Penang Culture. Juicy beef rendang paired with fragrant rice, ikan billis, sambal chilli and topped with sunny side up egg with curry gravy at the side. A tad expensive, but that’s shopping centre eateries pricing for you.
Have heard that this stall sells the best bbq stingray at Chomp Chomp Food Centre and it was really good. The meat was tender and fresh, and could be pulled apart easily from its bones. The sambal chilli was not that spicy, and overall the stingray goes really well with the savoury chinchalok sauce.
This is simply a bowl of happiness for roast meat lovers; with char siew, roast pork and roast duck all in the same bowl paired with noodles. Expect chunky sweet caramelised char siew which were fatty and had that melt in your mouth shiokness; crackling roast pork with very crispy skin and juicy roast duck that were just bursting with flavours. Special mention to the noodles too; with its springy texture and delicious seasoning. Overall, this was just FOOK KIN Good!
The white bee hoon was soaked in an umami laden prawn stock, with the wok hei taste significantly evident. The prawns were delightful as well, with four halves of a giant prawn making this dish a good eat. The only downside for me was the price; which i think is relatively expensive for a glorified tze char dish.

The Cubano is a grilled Turkish pide sandwich filled with carnitas pulled pork, sliced ham, mozzarella, dill pickles & coffee djionnaise. The meat is tender & flavourful while the melted cheese & pickles added a new dimension to the taste.
It’s been 2 years since i last visited Kok Sen and their big prawn hor fun was still as yummy as ever!
What made this dish so good was definitely the gravy which was so thick, flavourful and filled with umami richness. Hidden beneath the pool of gravy were the wok hei laden hor fun and prawns that were big & succulent. Shiok! 😋
The Coconut Club is one of the new entrants to Michelin’s Bib Gourmand list for 2018.
They are famous for their signature nasi lemak, which is priced at $12.80. The Ayam Goreng Berempah (crispy spiced fried chicken) is the star of the show for me; seasoned very well and the meat is tender & juicy. Paired with the fluffy & fragrant rice, as well as the homemade sambal chilli, this is a very delectable nasi lemak.
