Step into two-week-old Manzoku and one will recognize it from sister establishment Chikuwa Tei. It's almost like déjà vu—even the layout's the same. Quality fares just as well—no surprise there.
The menu is extensive, but it's hard to say no to chirashi. Especially when it looks like this. Thick, fresh, luscious slabs of hamachi toro, tai, otoro, mekajiki, kanpachi, hotate, salmon roe and uni sashimi are carefully laid over a bed of sushi rice, each tasty grain cooked to retain just enough bite to prevent it from being mushy.
It's delicious, really, but at $68 (for a set), we reckon we'd probably be opting for the chirashi don ($25) on its own if we make it back.
From the good people behind Sarnies and The Lokal comes Club Meatballs, a gastropub specializing in - you guessed it - meatballs. Build your own meatball plate with a choice of sauce, toppings and bases. Of course, it's convenient CBD location means you can come here just for a mid-day coffee fix, as well as after-work cocktails, wines and beers on tap.
The Saveur group has delved into affordable French fine dining with its latest food venture - Saveur Art. Located in ION Orchard, Saveur Art serves impeccably plated dishes with French finesse. Start with the egg confit & truffle ($12, $18 to add freshly shaved truffle) or chestnut veloute ($10), then go for the mangalica pork two ways ($22) or poached Maine lobster ($29 for half, $49 for whole) and end off with their chocolate and pistachio dessert ($13). You don't have to wait for a special occasion to dine at Saveur Art, 2-/ 3-course lunches are reasonably priced at $29 and $37 respectively.
Hailed by many as the best cookies in England, Ben's Cookies has finally hit Singapore's shores. These large but seemingly unassuming cookies will blow you away with their thick, chunky, gooey, chewy goodness. Located in the basement of Wisma Atria practically back-to-back with Famous Amos, Ben's cookies are surely giving them a run for their money. At $2.95 a pop, it's a small price to pay for a giant cookie. If you love small, super-crunchy cookies though, these might not float your boat! Just try them and see what you think :)
Sushi Kou serves both nigiri sushi and maki, and do both very well. Their produce is flown in from Tokyo, Kyoto and Hokkaido, so expect fresh, quality sushi. What draws customers back would probably be their affordable prices and great quality. Try their aburi sushi - the pieces of fish are so lightly seared that they just melt in your mouth. DIVINE. They are known for their affordable omakase sets too, if you don't feel like having sushi.
Aoki is arguably most famous for their Mazechirashi, which is perfectly executed. You get a good ratio of sashimi to rice, good texture, and flavours that meld together amazingly. The nigiri sushi is top-notch as well. Go for their lunch sets; they're very affordable considering the incredible quality. Always make reservations as they have limited capacity.

Awesome dinner! It really had the authentic Taiwanese taste! (Starting top left, in clockwise direction) 卤肉饭 braised meat rice, 葱油饼 spring onion pancake (which was my fav out of these four, must try!), 烧饼加肉松加蛋 toasted bun with pork floss and egg, 锅贴 pan-fried dumplings.
The price was really cheap too! Definitely less than $4 each, I think the spring onion pancake was only $1.50!

Start with the beautifully cooked sous vide octopus salad, and tuck into either the pork belly or the duck confit puff for decadent mains. Jean Teo describes Spathe as having '... such a great vibe and ambiance for friends catchup and romantic dinners.'
Explore the wonders of Argentinian small plates, and treat yourselves to a feast. The vibe at Bochinche is energetic yet cosy and intimate, making for a great place to enjoy good food and talk for hours. Don't miss the Provoleta with Almonds and Honey, and the Braised Pig Head Croquettes.
This beautiful new concept from Bali has taken over Keong Saik's iconic Tong Ah Kopitiam, and is thankfully serving great food in an inviting space. Tuck into a Three Buns burger on the whimsical second floor, and move upstairs to the third floor bar for a drink, or the rooftop garden if the weather permits.
