Hong Kong Food
Tried this HK styled soy sauce chicken and found it good. Chicken is the Kampong chicken which is not too fatty and the marination is just right not overwhelmingly salty. The rice is tasty not oily which is suitable for me. Overall it’s good and I’ll come back to try the savoury Kampong chicken which is unlike our chicken rice type.
Chef Kang has started a noodle house inside Jackson Square Cafe in block A Jackson Square, Lorong 3 Toa Payoh. He uses an imported Hong Kong noodles (竹升麵) that’s QQ and not sticky. Hence you can eat till just one strand left and not sticking to others. The wanton soup is delicious so ask for more if you love soup. The wanton, HK styled, is filled not just with meat but also a whole prawn. Have a whole plate of char siew to share if you have eating companions who love it too. It’s just yummy. So if you near or at Toa Payoh you may want to give it a try.
Flaky pastry, creamy egg custard and cheaper than lots of other similar egg tarts - that’s why I love it. The egg custard just flows out into your mouth when you bite into it taken fresh. It tastes just as good even after a few hours. Really yummy. They even have the western buttery pastry type of egg tarts. There’s a daily offer of buy 10 and get 1 free which is value for money when I treat my colleagues. 👍
Love the fact that this polo bun is as authentic as those in HK. I feel like I’m in one of the cha chaan tengs in HK. Inside the bun is a really thick slice of butter unlike those in the kaya toast. So you get really crispy sweet outside with the inside soft and savoury. Yummy yummy yum yum yum!
The crust crispy and the egg custard is creamy. Overall it's still worth the time and money to try this. Yummy yummy yum yum.
I read about these tarts that they're one of the best. I concur! In my opinion it's better than the so called famous HK egg tarts from a cafe in Centre Point. Much better. Very crispy pastry and creamy egg mixture inside. Really yummy. 👍👍👍
This very intense milk tea is full of body and cold till the last drop as there's no ice inside but outside. No ice means it's not diluted half way through just like in some HK cafe. So if you're "dying" for some real HK ice milk tea come here. 👍👍👍
Very crunchy and you can choose to dip into a soya or chilli sauce. Really yummy yum yum. Posted By Ah Leong San. 2016 December 10.
A combination of Penang laksa and Johore curry mee flavors. Very tasty and interesting. Yummy yum yum yum. Posted by Ah Leong San 2016 October
Possibly the closet to the ones I had in HK. Chock full of ingredients such as slices of cuttlefish, fish cake, pork, pig's innards etc. Tasty and only for $3.20. Yummy yummy yum yum! Posted by Ah Leong San 2016 July 16
Not only its pig's trotter is good the beef tendon is just as good. Hence the addition of $1 of beef tendon. Really yummy yummy yum yum yum. Posted by Ah Leong San 2016 May 28
Another excellent dish served by this shop. Fatty fish belly and fresh beef slices made the smooth porridge very tasty. Yummy yummy yum yum. Posted by Ah Leong San 2015 December 12
