So so worth all the money. Can I be a convert? My love for Japanese food never dies.
Had my first taste of the Lime Vodka Windowsill Pie today and I liked it. It's intensely zesty and light. I can understand why it is beloved by those who don't possess a sweet tooth, and have a preference for a refreshing desserts.
I will travel to Envy Coffee for good honest food and drinks with excellent service. Complimentary wifi is a bonus. Check out the hot pink Burpple decal. They have just been Burptified a good spot to chill even if you're not a Westsider it's worth the visit.
Serving cheap & good izakaya-type dishes that pair well with beers from neighboring The Good Beer Company and Smith Street Taps, Fork n' Fingers is unique and fun. Give all their dishes a try, especially the Hae Bee Hiam Rice ($3) and Spicy Sesame Spinach & Tofu ($2). This stall is certainly a refreshing addition to the already awesome Chinatown Complex Food Centre.
A new spot for a fun night out with good friends over a darn good lobster? Sounds about right. Choose from Live Whole Lobster (steamed or grilled), Lobster Roll or the Chili lobster. Burppler Jasper describes the Lobster Roll as, "😍 Chunks of marinated lobster flesh (a whole lobster is used) tossed with mayo and chives stuffed between divinely buttery buns. Sorry but I ain't gonna be sharing this next time we're down at #pinceandpints..." At $48++ per dish, this is a good place for a birthday celebrations or date nights!
If you don't have a sweet tooth, this Cheese and Onion Scone has your name on it. Heat it up in the toaster oven to bring forth its tantalising fragrance better but let it cool slightly before eating. Otherwise, the moisture within gives it a cake-like texture (which kind of defeats the purpose of eating a scone).
It's so good, you wouldn't even think about the possible aftermath. Just go for the large portion. They really do a good job in making you spend.
Go also for the dry laksa filling one! Yum
This dish evoked a round of "wow's" when they were served. Although described as "stir fried prawns with pepper and chilli", they were much more interesting than that. Skewered through thin metal rods, these crustaceans were fried to the point of full-on crunchiness that allowed us to chomp and gobble them up whole. The dryish fried concoction of chopped chillies, peppercorns and garlic that blanketed the prawns was deeply fragrant and seriously spicy. Best enjoyed with mugs of icy-cold Tsingtao beer :)
One of the new Lava Cake flavours at ABC (๑´ڡ`๑)
Crackling siobak, melt in your mouth charsiew are my faves. Roast duck is not too bad either. Highly recommend!
This is the lava cake of cheeses, with a 50% cream interior that gives the buffalo mozzarella its gooey texture in the middle. Topped with fragrant pesto and dolloped onto crispy buttered toast, it really can't get any better... Until you add $3 more for 6 lashings of salt in the form of prosciutto.
