Cafes In Singapore
Sweet potato latte, Yuzu cheesecake and ChocoMint island. It's gonna be a sweet sweet Sunday today, so there goes my diet!
Want the best of both worlds? Or maybe you got work to do. Check out this new coffee place by day and afterwork bar by night at 138 Market Street. Another decent chill-out destination for those working in the business district.
Oh damn, I really missed working in the city. Can't believe that I actually came back to the same place twice in the day.
A bacon-centric cafe at Dunlop street specializing in brunch, mains and including desserts with bacon. Bacon lovers will definitely go crazy over this new place. This is one of their signature mains, Bacon Bomb going at 50% off at $14 (U.P. $28) till Sunday. Featuring a combination of pork, beef, bacon and cheese all rolled together, served with house made potato mash on the side.
BreadTalk upped the luxe factor by launching 1933 at Capitol Piazza, a vintage-chic cafe that brings out delicious rendition of cuisines from the Nanyang region such as Nanyang Curry Chicken & Hainanese Chicken Rice, hearty soups served in French bread bowl, as well as contemporary Western fare, pastries and desserts.
Though menu prices are not in 1933, you can live with “1933 Coffee” which presents Torrefacto traditional based coffee beans served in trendy espresso style. The Iced Latte I had was clean and robust with the right notes. Power Carrot Soup and Crispy Smoked Duck Spring Rolls were on point too.
AFTERWIT, a new cafe sibling of Working Title just opened its doors today in the neighborhood of Kampong Glam at 778 North Bridge Road. Serving a light menu of gourmet salads & wraps, snacks, pizzas, all day brunch and desserts using ingredients that are halal certified.
What aroused my curiosity was their periodic table menu, featuring a tabular arrangement of beverages organized in the basis of name and symbol. For instance, the flat white I'm having is FW falls under Group 2 x Period 4. It may take you some time to look at the beverage menu or pick your choice of drink, but I thought it was creative and left me with an impression.
Succulent black angus ribeye. Hearty whole grain truffle mustard. Maldon sea salt mesclun salad.
At Burpple Tastemakers' Eat Up last night, where we were treated to chef's selection of decadent dishes featuring this Australian fine cut beef (200 grams) for $20 nett (U.P. $50 for 600 grams) only at The Betterfield Bistro Cafe. Where else to find?
House Special Mousse with Coffee Infused Caviar, an interesting coffee dessert newly introduced at Percolate 2.0.
I think Owl cafe came out with their version of Kopi Luwak with coffee caviar sometime ago. Not sure how that works, but this new dessert does stirred up some interest in the coffee scene.
Can't wait for the weekends to arrive.
Wanted to bring wifey to try Tarte by Cheryl Koh, however it was closed today. Glad that Tangs' Tiong Bahru Bakery was within walking vicinity and we are having our caffeine fix before movie date with Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Who serves High Tea for dinner?

The exclusive high tea set ($88 nett shares 4-6 pax) comes with Strongbow ciders, Strongbow Elderflowers & Berries jelly shots and a selection of house made savoury and sweet items such as Nassim Hill's signature breads. Along with the set, ladies can enjoy the 1-for-1 promotion on all regular priced Strongbow ciders at $14 nett. Offers are only available for ladies.
