less the hits, more of misses
says blanco court when i was at tiong bahru hawker that day.. dont think so lei. will the real blanco court please stand up? public service announcement: tiong bahru market closed for renovation and will be back in may 2017
that day cny at xi yan, craig road. i know how unpalatable at shaw after one visit and thought the main outlet would save the day. i remember how much i enjoyed their tomatoes in wasabi sesame sauce once. alas, the cny menu was a let down. thought this too safe execution of foie gras did not show flair for a "private dining" establishment like this. plus, texturally, the foie gras resting on slices of fiji apple failed for me as the apple unfortunately did not come out crunchy (to a certain degree, warmed up by the seared foie gras). of course, soft strawberries did not help either. p.s: am no expert on foie gras, but am i suppose to register veins inside the slab?
am i alone on this? the whole works didn't work for me though especially the patty that came tad tough. the individual components however like its horseradish garlic aioli was worthy to mention
senmi tai ji.. looks pretty but taste was not sea full of goodness. all smoky but not flavorful. disappointed for the price paid
so i needed to partake beef today but already decided to screw the gm diet with a burger. so i THOUGHT i make it count with a good one. well, it didn't. so safe, so plain it was hardly inspiring
twice at new ghim moh and i didnt feel the roasted love. at all. marination is off and the roast is insufficient. not sure if i am unlucky or what happened to you ah 九江? :(
tonight's dinner from the far west to toa payoh hawker (just opposite melben). but the umami seafood sweetness and wok hei kept swimming away from me in this bowl. I couldn't find any. pretty plate but fell short on taste. because i am late or is the queue too much for them to deliver what i imagine what it would be? that said, time to check the legendary white bee hoon at sembawang
always look forward to a burppletastemaker session; where we ditch our social obligations and duties for an hour or two and unwind to nothing but gastronomy matters. yesterday's plated food, great nails, photo-takings, the "hellos" and the "how-are-you" catching up. good enough! sometimes, food is really unnecessary. if you get my drift.
"is the food nice?" you may ask. well.... It wouldn't be inaccurate to assume that I couldn't exactly not say that it is or isn't almost partially incorrect.
$4 million later, this is tough. gosh, spate of lousy food of late. damn it
if only food is as good as its interesting concept. imho.
weekend checking out da panjang hood. royal honey at $6.80. the individual components of already-not-that-smooth-froyo meeting soggy popcorns and nata de coco at the bottom just did not go well together. poorer by $6.80 and did not feel a bit royal.
