Value For Money
Ordered this along with the Dan Dan Noodles and would say that this was really value for money and delicious! The skin is on the thicker side, but the filing is really juicy and flavourful. Itās perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh. Wiped out all 15 pieces by myself š¤¤ Remember to pair it with the ginger and vinegar placed on the side!
A small issue was that another diner spotted a small roach near the counter top and the staff killed (?) it with the table cloth.
The noodles were soft, yet retains a chewy texture and clings on to the sauce really well. Frankly not the biggest fan of the sauce, which just tasted like mined meat with dou ban jiang. It was a little too salty as well. Added some vinegar and chilli oil and it tasted so much better!
Seating is limited, and be prepared to wait as itās a one-man show. Donāt think I would return for this, but might return to try the soup noodles, which majority of the diners ordered!
Ordered the fixed set Suan La Fen ($6.80) where the staff will help you to choose the ingredients inside + vermicelli. The soup was sour, and I loved it as Iām a āBak Chor Mee add vinegarā kinda person. It was very appetising to me and I finished all the soup!
My only gripe was that it wasnāt spicy enough, and I put some chilli padi inside. I would say that itās really worth it, and they were really generous with the soup. I did not feel thirsty after finishing up the soup! I also felt that the vermicelli used is a bit different from what I used to. Itās not the kind that breaks apart easily in fish soup, itās slightly chewy and really delicious in the soup!
Overall, I really loved the place as itās clean, quiet, and serves really good food. Iāve tried the bone broth as well and loved it as well. Tip: try out their spicy paste sauce, itās really delicious with the āmalaā taste without being too spicy.
Saw a queue on a Saturday morning while passing by and dropped by to give it a try. Iām so glad I did because this was so delicious!
The beef stew was so flavourful, with large chunks of tender beef pieces. The carrots in the stew provided a bit of sweetness, and the gravy was so perfect for dipping the baguette in. I couldnāt believe that this was only $6, and will definitely return to try more items! Outdoor seating is limited, so try to come during off peak timings!
Came here to try the raved beef noodles but was unfortunately sold out. Ordered the Red Hot Chilli Dumpling Noodles and was so pleasantly surprised! The dumplings were so plump and filled with ingredients. The noodles were like those åå type and really thick and clung to the delicious sauce. The sauce packed a punch, and definitely spicier than Din Tai Fungās with a more fiery sichuan mala flavour which I LOVED. Will be back for more!!
This place appeared to be famous for their maguro but I was in the mood for salmon (I prefer salmon over maguro) so I ordered the cheapest item on the menu, the Salmon Rice Bowl with thick sliced Atlantic Salmon.
I have to say that they delivered on what they put on their menu! The salmon pieces were thick and substantial. The slices were beautifully marbled and fresh. It tasted sweet and melts in my mouth. Love love love!!! The rice used was authentic Japanese short grain rice, and tasted SO DELICIOUS with the Salmon. The rice was like glowing (i am not exaggerating) and perfectly seasoned, not too sour to overpower the salmon. The wasabi was also not too strong tasting, which I loved.
Would love to try the Maguro bowls in the future as the cheapest item on the menu, which was not their specialty, had honestly impressed me.

Ordered the Sliced Fish Soup ($5.80), Double Fish Soup ($6.80), extra egg floss ($1), Fried Tofu with Sesame ($4.80) and Calamansi with plum ($2)
Opted out of the milk in the soup to taste the original flavour, but sadly the broth fell a little short of my expectations. The fish flavour was not very strong but if you love garlic oil, you will love this. Many small pieces of garlic on the soup, which made the soup really fragrant. Fish slices were fresh and sweet, but quite little š„ŗ think there were only 5-6 slices.
The fried tofu was really delicious, slightly crispy on the outside, and perfectly silky and tender inside. Was a tad bit oily though. With the sesame sauce (tasted exactly like Kewpieās), it really complemented the flavour š
Calamansi with plum (not pictured) was a surprise. Even till the end when most of the ice had melted, the flavour was still very strong. The plum provided a nice, slightly salty aftertaste to the sour calamansi, worth a try!
Bill came out to be $20.40 for 2, which is pretty value-for-money considering a meal in town. We went down at around 3pm, but there was still a queue, which is a testament to the popularity of this place!
