Had a great lunch with my folks before the lunch crowd hit. The mapo tofu is soft with a gravy which packs a punch and goes so so well with the soft grain rice. The Dan Dan mian is al dente in a fragrant peanut gravy, though I prefer my mom’s dry version. However, the side dish of Sichuan chicken has gotten all our thumbs up for its crispiness yet not being oily. Well the sichuan seasoning is on point too:)

The bun is really well buttered and crispy. It really isn’t burnt as it looks in the picture. However the bun definitely could be bigger. The serving of lobster chunks is really generous with each chunk being pretty big. I think that’s quite important because it allows you to know that you are actually eating lobster😂 Well, the popular Boston clam chowder doesn’t need further recommendation for its creaminess and generosity of clams.

The sear on the dory fillet was perfect while keeping it soft. The tom yum sauce was very creamy with a generous serving of mussels, clams and prawns. Loved the pasta salad too!

Finally a satisfying meal for a dumpling lover! The fried pierogi filled with smoked bacon, truffled potato and cheddar just went so well with the sriracha crema dip. Really a dumpling flavour that you can find nowhere else. The other dumpling dish ordered was boiled dumplings with sichuan vinaigrette which was not bad. Braised (shredded) pork noodles and miso mushroom noodles were great as the egg noodles were springy but the sauce for both tasted almost identical.

Used the beyond deal for this delectable treat. The buckwheat soba are made fresh every day, explaining why they were so smooth. Enjoyed the punch in flavour that came with the addition of wasabi. Sadly the portion was not filling at all:( Hopefully one day there is an option for a free or chargeable upsize of soba noodles:)

A stall in Wisma Atria Food Republic that sells Taiwanese styled hot pots. As the hot pots are ala carte, you will have to pay for the carbs (handmade noodles or rice). Top up items include wood ear, bean sprouts, beancurd skin etc at the price of $1.50 each. As for the gravy of the hot pot, you can select the spiciness level just like mala hotpot. However it’s more of spicy sesame taste rather than mala taste. For each hot pot ordered, you can choose to have the Chef cook the carbs and top up ingredients for you into one pot or cook them yourself. The latter will mean that you will be given the the hotpot with chicken pieces in it and the rest at the side (as seen in the picture). SO, you can OTOT cook and eat your food. For my pot, the noodles were springy despite being soaked in the gravy for some time. Also, despite cooking various ingredients and noodles in the gravy, the intensity of the flavours remained the same?👍🏻 Not to forget the tender chicken pieces too!:)
Overall, it was a great treat for two and definitely a stomach warmer (little spicy was spicy enough for me) on chilly days:)

All thanks to Burpple Beyond, I finally had the chance to try this deli that has been on my wishlist for the longest time. As far as I know, it’s a deli that requires no further introduction😜 Generous chunks of springy lobster on a well toasted butter bun. For the extra truffle butter that came with it, I dipped my straight cut fries in it, which was yum😊
Sadly this deal is no longer on Beyond but it’s definitely a must try for any Truffle fans❤️

The friendly manager was singing all the praises for this new vegetarian Hamburg patty hence i decided to give it a try. At first bite it tasted similar to moist minced chicken. However, as the taste slowly sunk in, the soy taste slowly unveiled itself which ended up being quite overwhelming and gelat till the last bite. After enquiring, soy products were one of the main ingredients of it, no wonder. Fortunately the free flow salad and egg stations made up for the experience. Special mention to the Cha soba and spicy ramen! So so so good:) not forgetting to mention the okonomiyaki styled omelette😝

Pretty decent fish and chips. The crunch on the crispy batter was pure addictive, yet thin at the same time?? The fries were fried to crisp as well. With it came a bowl of clam chowder and iced beverage. The clam chowder tasted more like can-made than homemade😅 The portion was quite filling. To relieve some of the greasiness (not that greasy frankly speaking), malt vinegar was readily within reach:)

Whole chicken breast lightly marinaded with spices as the main star in this quinoa bowl. This serving of quinoa was refreshing as it came with bite sized chestnut and remnants of vegetable stem as well as some beans. Also in this bowl was a fresh side of naturally sweet pumpkin resting on a bed of greens, all without any seasoning or sauce. This bowl was overflowing with flavours that emphasised the natural tastes of the individual ingredients, which somehow came quite nicely together. Hence, this is definitely a bowl to consider if one decides to eat really really clean. For once though, given that the dryness of the ingredients eventually crept in...

Tender beef cubes stewed in red wine, caramelised bacon pieces, carrots and valrhona chocolate. Really enjoyed the richness of that gravy which carried a chocolaty hint for me. This was in contrary to what the crew said during the dish recommendation, that the taste of valrhona would be subtle as it was only used to marinate the beef cubes. So maybe it’s psychological?😉 As the portion was small (since it is a Frapas= French tapas) and lacked a carb, I thought a potato mash would be an ideal side dish to make the dish more filling and complete:)

Soul and tum fulfilling dinner comprising of burnt chilli chicken, smashed baby potatoes with plum powder, chicken hearts, brusselsprouts with shitake and bacon. My favourite has got to be the burnt chilli chicken as it is unbelievably tender. You can eat these with either free flow white rice or shiny rice drizzled with lard and garlic oil ($0.50). Sour plum drink costing $5 per canister is also a great steal!
