Small seating area. Small menu. Large on smells.
Took about 15+ min for the Don to be served.
Steak was overdone for my liking. Would have preferred a medium rare doneness. Pork Belly was ok, good colour and texture. Egg didn't taste like it was marinated for long. Yolk was soft, but not the runny kind.
Portion size was just nice. Eat it. No regrats.
Interesting combination with the kimchi slices by the side but unfortunately the pork slices weren’t very fresh - the soft bones were too hard and not chewy, and the meat part quite dry. The sauce it was marinated in was nice though, would have gone well with the meat if it was fresher! You kind of pay for what you get.
If you’re at Westgate seeking for a more Budget option (below $10), do give kushiya a try! The chicken and vegetables in the bowl are charcoaled grilled and they’re really good. My favourite part of the bowl was really the vegetables, they were grilled so well and were so flavourful! The rice was definitely too bland and needed to be drowned in sauce but the rice of the bowl was fantastic for its price! There’s also free flow tea and while the service was a bit slow during dinner time, the workers were very friendly and even compensated my Friend with a skewer on the house when his rice came late because they ran out and had to cook more. I won’t be making special trips down to Jurong just for kushiya but if I’m there, it’ll definitely be one of my top choices for a more budget meal.

At $8.90, i feel this dish is mediocre.
Pork belly and egg taste bland. The pork belly doesn’t melt in my mouth.
Flavourful and tender inner with some charred corners.
Chicken Leg Don. $6.90
With some leeks, grilled to the softest and addictive teriyaki sauce glaze. Accompanied with lettuce, seaweed, some kimchi (spicy kicks are so refreshing) and medium-well hard boiled egg. It’s a relatively sinful with a healthy touch. Definitely satisfying! #burpple #burpplefood #burpplesg #japanesedon #comfortfoodsg #feedmefood2018 #japanesericebowl
