With more misses than hits (at least for us), I doubt we will be back for the food. But I do think that their classy-chic environment and plushy sofa seats make for a comfortable environment to chill.
I was kinda disappointed with my Bara Chirashi. Though the sashimi cubes are fresh, they lack seasoning, and was quite bland. But the sushi rice is surprisingly flavourful, being well-mixed with tobiko.
The teriyaki eel was tender and flavourful, and I am surprised it didn't contain any small bones which makes it a pleasure to eat.
Tempura prawns was somehow a miss, as it turns soggy after a while. Not as crunchy nor flavourful as I like it to be as well.
Each of us was given a starter - Pitan Tofu. Topped generously with century egg purée and crunchy tobiko, we didn't like this as we are not fans of century egg.
The seemingly plain-looking salad was good though, with its tangy and toasty sesame sauce.
The beef tenderloin teppanyaki was tender and good, but portion's really small.
Ordered the lunch set at kuro kin. Bara chirashi don. Came wif a side if unagi, century egg tofu, miso soup, salad and prawn tempura. Costs $22.90++ but its really worth it. Fish is fresh and firm. However, the chirashi don only has 3 types of fish. Salmon, tuna n a hamachi but still very good. Rice is really good and mixed with fish roe making it very flavourful. Try the chirashi don for dinner. Its ard 40 bucks but a larger portion n more fish!
The best chirashi don i have ever tried. The rice itself beats everything. The rice mixed with fish roe seems to be bursting with flavour with every bite. Strongly recommended. But a little pricey. $40 for the chirashi. But definitely worth it
Spicy Sakana - this sound spicy but the taste is just right.
