The Colossal Beef Bowl ($18) was indeed pretty colossal. At first I thought there was too much rice compared to beef. But at the end of the meal, I realized the proportion was just nice. & I was super full with the mountain of Japanese rice in my belly.

I would've preferred if the rice were slightly flavoured though, because it felt rather imbalanced. Even with the sous vide egg mixed in to the rice, all the flavour was in the beef such that you HAD to eat it with the rice. Perhaps some more of the sweet & savoury sauce mixed in with the rice (instead of just being on the beef) would be better.

The Latte ($4.50) was sufficiently creamy, yet had the super shiok kick of robust coffee inside. If aesthetics are your thing, you can see the difference in the latte art of the Soy Milk (+$0.50) Latte.. Probably because Soy Milk behaves in a different way, but it didn't really bother me.

I came here for the coffee, but grabbed some food since I was hungry & it was lunch time. Satisfied with both, I am very keen to return here again. They have a comfortable air-conditioned space, good food & robust coffee, ample parking at HillV2 (cheaper & more lots than at the CC itself)... 'Nuff said.

Finally gotten down to trying this cup of flat white from Kohi-ya located within Hillview community centre and just a 10-min (~1km) walk from home! A cup that's easy on the palate, with nutty notes, that ain't too milky (hearsay the beans are a blend from @tionghoespecialtycoffee).

This café might be a little hidden within the compound of Hillview Community Club, but Kohi-ya appears to be a quiet sanctuary for serious café goers (thank goodness there’s Starbucks nearby).

The Matcha Bun Beef Burger appeared to be the choice among the foods served here, and precisely because there seems to be only one burger item, thus this is it. In fact, this is my first encounter in using a Matcha bun for a burger, so it’s worth a try in that sense.

Apart from placing a slice of melted cheese on the burger, the chef had creatively used a blueberry red wine reduction to add a slight fruity twist to the food (real blueberries spotted too!). The beef patty was pretty tasty with sufficient salt added to it, but I had problems deciding whether the Matcha bun was necessary, as it was quite hard and not easy to discern its taste when eaten with the other parts of the burger.

Overall, maybe setting the price tag as S$21.00 is a tad pocket-unfriendly. What a miss......
