Favorite kaya Kok and Kaya roll found in KL; spotted this hidden gem while waiting for the traffic light to turn green, the kaya Kok is recommended! The kaya roll is soft but I feel it just like a normal cake :) when you are around that area, look out! There is one small stall on your right side :)
The glistening surface of the kaya puffs makes my mouth water just by looking at it. I especially love the 'mouth feel' I get from these kaya puffs. Every bite of it is crisp and flaky. You will also get a buttery taste which lingers behind after you plant them in your mouth. This shows that she did not skimp on the butter when making her puffs. The sweet and creamy kaya filling is perfectly balanced with the multi-layered crumbly pastry. This is as traditional as it can get.

Another hidden gem found! 🔍I got to know from my aunt that there is a humble pushcart which sells good traditional pastries and cakes along Jalan Yap Ah Loy. My aunt who also loves traditional baked goods like me highly recommend this place. So, I am expecting a traditional and authentic taste on this PoPo's 👵 baked goods.
And it surely does! 👏
Her swiss roll has the ‘Ooh and Aah’ factor. 😋Buttery, eggy and as light as air sponge rolled up with a sweet gooey kaya jam. I love that the kaya is thick and is packed with intense coconut fragrance. The ratio of sponge cake to kaya is also perfectly balanced. Neither overwhelms the other.
