The queue is often so long, I finally found a respite on a late afternoon. The components were okay, but overall it's just wanton mee, and convinced me I might've eaten all the best wanton mee in Singapore. If I have to highlight something, the wantons and dumplings were old-school. The self-service lard is dry yet intense, but lard shouldn't define wanton mee.
Delicious! The non spicy one tasted better than the spicy version, surprisingly 😄

The wanton mee ($3.50) is of the traditional variety. It’s not uncommon to see queues forming at this stall on a weekend morning. Love how the noodles are firm and springy and being able to help myself with as much lard as I want. But the key highlight here is the chicken feet (additional $1.50) which tastes so good with the braised dark soy sauce seasoning. Spicy lovers would like the mix of dark soy sauce with the chilli sauce.
Char siew is made in-house using a charcoal oven and is lean and thinly sliced. Pretty unmemorable for me but perfect for those who love it the old school way. Wantons are pretty plump and the skin was smooth and silky.
This is a place I missed so much I went back after a few years and the 78 year old Uncle is going strong. Wontons are not great, neither is the char siew BUT their noodles are so springy because he cooks them and dunks them in a pot of cold water. Great bite, and it’s tossed in this amazing black sauce that I’ve never tasted anywhere else. Five stars for me, I love this place!
Queue for a short while as lunch hour was ending.
Ordered the normal $3.50 wanton mee. Sadly, I think the charsiew was running out so they only gave me a few pieces. 3 wantons nicely wrapped, in a bowl of soup. Chewy noodles which is well cooked, and that chilli was red hot spicy!
All and all, a decent plate of wanton mee at that given price point. However, I wouldn’t queue for more than 30 minutes for it.
