Aburi nigiri, sashimi grilled fish and torched beef cubes were amazing. Some other items (eg. soft shell crab, chawamushi) were a bit fishy but otherwise really great japanese buffet for the price.
Hokkaido sushi is honestly one of the best Japanese buffets you can ask for in Singapore. The pricing is reasonable. You get what you pay for and that is basically quality.
I'm a huge fan of their salmon and swordfish sashimi. The food is so fresh and the service is commendable. You have to try their garlic, miso and spicy sushis. This place is totally worth your calories.
At $44++ per pax, this ala carte lunch buffet is really worth it. Fresh sashimi especially salmon and swordfish, it even offers assorted mental aburi sushi to choose. Their sushi also has garlic miso ones which are equally good. My favourite is aburi salmon, swordfish, prawn sushi. Highly recommended if you just want to indulge in sashimi and sushi.
I was deciding on which dish to be a representation for my review for hokkaido sushi restaurant because they've got good quality sashimi, delicious dishes and decent pricing. We went for the weekend dinner buffet @$ 50.50++ - more expensive than the weekday lunch prices.Dishes to try when you are there: pitan tofu, garlic miso/aburi mentai torched sushis, the maki rolls (as pictured), wagyu beef with mushroom, sashimi selection of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, octopus and swordfish. Liked their facebook page to get a complimentary haagen daz ice cream and free flow ocha with an additional $2.50++
the buffet at Hokkaido sushi restaurant is always a good place to load up on fresh sashimi. I particularly enjoy the salmon and swordfish, but the cooked foods are not too bad too!
P.S if you book via hungrygowhere you can enjoy up to a 30% discount off the buffet!
Nested within M hotel, this Japanese buffet serves garlic miso aburi salmon sushi thatβs so good, youβll want to go back for more. They do not have an extensive menu, however, their items are of great quality that the short fall in range will be overlooked.
.
Fresh-thick cuts of salmon, tuna, swordfish and octopus from @hokkaidosushi_sg all-you-can-eat ala-carte buffet going at $44++.
.
Quality Japanese food at decent pricing. My only qualm was the sashimi which came last, only after all the appetizers, sides, mains and cooked food which was served. π€
Service was a bit slow although there wasnt packed of customers. You can choose to opt for buffet or a la carte, I think buffet will be more value for money tho. Quite a variety of dishes, nice food presentation
What stood out was actually a variety of sushi, especially the mentai salmon sushi where you couldn't find at other Jap restaurant buffet. Also the complimentary tuna belly, scallop made it even more bang for the buck
End of your courses, they provided a dessert, mine was green tea ice cream
Damage: about $60 nett per pax (including 2 hot tea, not free of charge)
I thought this is a local creation, but I'm seeing it in many Japanese restaurants. Always welcome this localised dish, silky tofu covered with creamy century egg sauce and topped with crunchy ebiko π
So lucky that we managed to catch them while they wer having their toro promotion! But honestly, even without the promo, this place definitely stands out as the Japanese buffet with HIGHEST VALUE! Sashimi on point, rolls on point, stir-fries on point & pan-fries on point! What's not to love?!
As part of the ala carte buffet, they also serve grilled salmon, saba, halibut or chicken, with salt, mentaiko or teriyaki sauce.
πΈ
My favourite grilled saba is still Sabar 38 at Japan Food Town, but we still like this saba because the skin is nicely grilled while the flesh remains melty.
πΈ
Unfortunately gindara is no longer on their ala carte buffet menu, that would have been a game changer.
The already reasonably priced ala carte buffet actually includes bluefin tuna sashimi.
πΈ
There's a slice of akami, chutoro, otoro and hotate sashimi for each diner. They're really fatty, but there's a significant fishy smell... so their chutoro and otoro shouldn't be that one thing that draws you here. Nevertheless, the standard of most other dishes were better than other Japanese ala carte buffets.
πΈ
We enjoyed the meal as we chatted for 3 hours in its quiet and classy ambience. Service is however really slow so you should be quick to place your orders in bulk.

Among all of their cooked food, this was my favorite. Seasoned with salt and grilled till crisp. The high heat sealed all its juice within the flesh. .
|
Their Wagyu and mushroom was also really good but sadly it was not photogenic.
|
Excellent knife skill by the chef. Evenly sliced and fanned like a wing. To ensure their freshness, they air flew their seafood from Tsukiji and Sapporo twice a week. Best on the plate would be the scallop! The more I chewed, sweeter it got. .
|
Despite of their regular air flew supply, the sweetness of the sashimi was missing. Maybe it was me but the prawn taste unusually soft.
.
|
No need any seasoning. Just eat with their generous amount of Roe! We need to move the roe to see the egg. Keep it popping!!!
|
Available in their buffet menu. From the regular Unagi sushi to the very exotic tuna truffle, all were worth trying at least once. Thus, you could distinguish what is Good sushi and Not so OK ones.
.
|
While the rest are busy with their salted egg, they served up the traditional dish. .
|
You would either love or hate this dish. THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN!
Air flown straight from Tsukiji and Sapporo, Japan, twice a week, diners can be assured of the freshness and quality of the thick-cut sashimi served here at Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant. Besides classics like the sake (salmon), maguro (tuna), mekajiki (swordfish), hamachi (yellowtail) and tako (octopus), I was particularly blown away by how sweet and plump the hotate (scallop) was!
Located on the 9th floor of M Hotel Singapore, #TheHokkaidoBuffetExperience is available daily at $38++ for lunch and $43++ for dinner, including weekends.
This was a hosted meal by Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant; many thanks to Burpple for the invitation!
