When it feels like I have had one too many rich meals, I find it therapeutic to get back to basics. That would mean a simple meal of Teochew "muay". Somehow, a bowl of watery porridge eaten with assorted dishes is ideal comfort food in such times. To be sure, "si suang chai"and stewed pork belly can never be categorised as wholesome by any stretch of imagination, but in my mind, as long as they are shelved under Teochew "muay", I can close one eye ;)
Tucked away in the corner of the second level in this old shopping centre is a tiny eatery called "Good Will". For so small a space, it offers a reasonably good variety of "Teochew muay" type of dishes (to be eaten with porridge or rice), double-boiled soups and even a few sandwiches. I like the plain boiled three-layer pork for its simplicity. Have it with the accompanying condiments for a wonderful harmony of flavours.
