But this was really not too bad!
The pastry-like puff tasted a lot like my favorite croissant, albeit it being a little hard to cut through. The matcha cream on the other hand, was light and not overly sweet; bonus points that it didn't had the bitter taste I was afraid of. 😄
Sadly there's only one left when we were there; would have love to try the rest of the flavors!
This is a charming little place located conveniently near Bugis MRT but hidden from plain view because it is situated in the less popular Burlington Square. Despite being "hidden", it's very popular. As I "hogged" one of the 10+ seats in the cafe, I witnessed non stop takeaway orders; is that a good enough indication of the coffee standard for you?
Featured: Iced caramel latte SGD 5.50.
Earl Grey Cream Puff SGD 3.50.
The Earl Grey Puff was nice but a tad salty for me. Matcha Puff is the one to go for!! 😋
Came here to taste the Esmeralda Geisha but unfortunately they don't roast those beans unless there's a sizable order because they are so expensive. Had the Maragogype instead which turned out to be the first single-origin bean I actually don't fancy as I thought it smelled and tasted quite savory, which will take some getting used to.
Came here to try the famed Panama Esmeralda Geisha but beans are only roasted on order, and a half-pound of roasted beans costs $180 so we tried the Maragogype on their recommendation. I found the taste very savory -- very faintly reminiscent of chicken essence or Marmite. I'm not sure I would have it again but definitely an unusual experience worth having. We were treated to a complimentary shot of their house blend espresso which I enjoyed very much because of its smooth mouth yet strong character. I will be back!
Friendly owner really passionate about their coffee, but they tend to roast their coffee beans lighter than usual. I would prefer my coffee with a darker roast and stronger taste.
In a $100 Japanese cup. First time I tried such expensive coffee, but unfortunately I can't appreciate the complexity.
