As though a classic juicy beef burger isn’t sinful enough, One Fattened Calf’s OFC Butterburger ($15/ ala carte, $19.90/ Combo) kicked things up a notch and just takes the cake. Elevating the burger in decadence, the swap for cheese with grassfed butter was truly ingenious. With the two melting slabs sitting lovingly between the patty and soft freshly baked house-made potato bun, the yummy hunk of a stack didn’t feel too jelat or over-the-top as the butter was absorbed perfectly (no sloppy or soggy pockets of oil here). Recommended to be consumed for dine-in only, this stunning burger was also so so savoury. And of course, each component was well-executed - from the seasoned 150g New Zealand premium grassfed beef to the toasted potato buns, charred sliced onions, crunchy red onions, and house-made crisp pickles which had a light sharpness to cut through the richness. The intricate dumpling wrapper that it came in was really handy as well to make this a less messy affair.
