If there is one local delicacy that I will not give up (even when I am dieting), it got to be the undisputed national dish - Chicken Rice. I am not a chicken rice advocate or an enthusiast and yes I have tried the famous ones like Tian Tian and Ah Tai at Maxwell, commercially successful chains like Boon Tong Kee and Five Star. However there are still many, many hidden gems which are equally good or even better.

One of them will be this humble stall located at Katong Shopping Centre. Fragrant soy sauce, perfectly roasted chicken and the rice alone makes the trip well worth it. You even get a free plate of achar which acts as a perfect palate cleanser, not too spicy with a slight tanginess and a bowl of soup with generous amount of cabbage which compliments the entire set well.
