Originating from Harajuku, Japan, Cafรฉ Aux Bacchanales opened their first international outlet here on the sunny shores of Singapore, and I must confessed that I've walked past it several times while shopping in Plaza Singapura. ๐ซฃ๐
.
As a French-Japanese Cafe & Bistro, my first thought was... Another Hoshino Coffee-ish cafรฉ? ๐ง
.
TBH, I wasn't quite blown away by the food here, and for their higher price points, I was expecting the level of quality to be much higher than say... Hot Tomato ๐

๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐น ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ผโ๐ฎ ($6.50) - An Autumn Special, this was an okay-ish cuppa but didn't pack much of a punch. Super easy to drink though.

๐ฆ๐ถ๐ฟ๐น๐ผ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ธ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ฅฉ๐ท($25.80) - We had to send this back the first round, because it was so well done that it was completely tough and rubbery. The manager mentioned that it's "normal" for the sides to be well done and wanted us to confirm if the middle was the same. At this point, I was a bit like... HUH. ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ Thankfully, the 2nd piece (albeit smaller) was much juicier, and the saving grace of this dish was definitely the crispy Steak Frites and Red Wine Sauce.

๐๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐ถ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ($35.80) ๐ฆ๐ฅ - Probably the best dish we tried, the inside of the Duck Confit was soft and juicy, although I wished that the skin could have been more crispy and slightly less salty on certain portions.
.
๐๐ฟรช๐ฝ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฐ๐ผ ๐ซ ($12.80) - Filled with dense cream which was pretty much tasteless, everything was overpowered by the strong flavours of Banana ๐, even the chocolate sauce provided did nothing to balance out the flavours. Highly approve of the Chocolate Gelato served on the side though, it was smooth and chocolatey and was the highlight of this dessert.

Overall, I'd say this is a nice quiet place ๐ฟ to chill out and have a cuppa coffee โ or glass of wine ๐ท in the middle of Plaza Singapura, with its spacious interior in the heart of Orchard Road. Special shout-out to the friendly staff who are really good with babies!๐๐ซ
