It's not often a restaurant opens a hawker stall selling its restaurant dishes at hawker centre prices. SBCD Korean Tofu House did just that, and I was intrigued.
The sets at Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu range from $6 to $8. Considering these are sold at the restaurant at more than $20, I'd say it's very worth it. Each set comes with rice, kimchi and a packet of seaweed.
The ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ณ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ผ๐ป ๐ง๐ผ๐ณ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ ($7) came with plentiful thin slices of tender beef, while the ๐๐๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ผ๐ป ๐ง๐ผ๐ณ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ ($7) had two big pork dumplings. While these were pretty decent, the real star was the tofu.
"Soon" means soft in Korean, and the humongous pieces of tofu in the earthen pots with the beef / dumplings were really silky smooth. They broke apart at the mere touch with a spoon. The orange-hued broth in the same pot was amazing as well and I finished every last drop of it.
However I thought the portion was rather small. $7 for a meal in a heartland kopi tiam is not exactly cheap, and I wished the servings could be bigger to justify the price.
