I vote it as the best yam paste in Singapore .
Think creamy and smooth yam paste with a rich authentic yam flavour. No fillers , no food colouring. It is the way how a champion yam paste should be. The sweetness level is perfect and I like it that the yam paste was not laden with oil.
I requested for the coconut cream and ginko to be served separately because I didn't know how the flavour would work out to be.
Honestly, just the yam paste alone on its own was so good , it didn't need any dressing .
Sometimes less is more .
At sgd 20 for a serving size for 4 to 5 pax,it was absolutely worthwhile .
Signature Phoenix Spring Chicken ($20)
I was informed that this is one of the must-order signatures from @dragonphoenixsg . This roasted spring chicken leaned slightly toward the saltier side but I guess it's also what makes the skin delicious👌🏻! Overall, I would pick Putien's roast chicken over this as I wasn't as impressed with this dish as I was with their yam ring!
Signature Crispy Yam Ring ($28)
Yet another yam delicacy I cannot resist ordering when I stumble upon it on the menu. This Yam Ring from @dragonphoenixsg is insanely delicious!
We opted for the luxe add-on of marinated prawns 🦐 and cashew nuts cos what's yam ring without prawns right? 😂 What I love about this dish has to be the yam ring. It is super fluffy and the mashed yam holds its shape. The texture of the yam is also slightly chewy (we suspect there's some secret ingredient contributing to this) and the flaky yam crust is just divine especially when it slightly soaks up the gravy in the center! Missing this already😋!
Totally a work of art. Every single one of my family members love their famed Yusheng. It's unlike what I had for years, that's sometimes I wonder why we didn't come here for louhei yearly. The way they prepare is on reversal. They mixed the sauces up first before throwing in slices of abalone and tossing the slices with the sauces. Next would be the crushed peanuts, the respective vegetables, jellyfish and finally topped generously the golden pillows. Not presentable, and hardly Instagram worthy, but honestly the best. After tossing and making a mess, the end result is one hell of a gorgeous mess, with each strand deliciously coated. Urgh, just so good.
Full 7 course traditional Cantonese meal including suckling pig @ $438++ in town. Can't get cheaper than this. There was sharks fin soup, roast chicken, fried fish, mushroom with broccoli, herbal prawns, fried rice, dessert.
We couldn't take an overall decent shot of the food because everyone was so hungry.
Dragon Phoenix Restaurant prides itself in serving classical Cantonese culinary cuisine. We also come here for the dim sum because of its current promotion (all dim sum is priced at 50% during lunch hours!!!) This place isn't that crowded but do call before hand because they are usually booked for events on weekends.
