Shanghai

You can choose from various flavours and since we couldn’t decide, we went with the ‘Shanghai’ for a mix of the different toppings like preserved veg, spice, etc. Liked that they don’t fry these so it wasn’t greasy, but it’s like a biscuity flatbread with a nice crunch. It wasn’t too heavily seasoned and works well as a healthy snack.

Preserved vege, mustard leaves and mixed vegetables tucked away nicely in a Chinese flatbread made from sticking these flat doughs against the inner surface of oven-esque earthen jars. Flavours were good, and texture of the flatbread was slightly flaky whilst retaining a bite. Value for money healthyish snack. I’m already planning my next visit here heh.

Keep this spot in mind when looking for post-workout fuel or a light bite. Stuffed with vegetables and baked oil-free, the Chinese flatbread is a delicious, healthyish snack — and cheap too, from $2 a pop. We recommend trying the Shanghai ($3), which is a triple whammy of their best flavours featuring pickled mustard leaves, preserved vegetables (mei cai) and mixed vegetables. For dessert, the Shandong ($2.20) sees sweet and creamy red bean paste. The flatbreads are best eaten while hot, lest it turns chewy!

So foodie me had to try of course. This apparently is a chain from China selling a variety of these flatbreads 饼, with fillings characteristic of each Chinese city. 💫
My pick was the Chongqing ($2.50) - filled with savoury pickled vegetables. Each bite is crispy, complete with the whiff of the savoury vegetables. Those who have tried it, what’s your fav flavour among the rest (like Sichuan, Shanghai etc)? #herpenandfork #sgblogger #sgfoodie #8dayseat #burpple #vscofood #openricesg #cafehoppingsg #instafood #instafood_sg #onthetable #stfoodtrending #小杨锅盔

This rich history snack is healthy and nutritious due to the oil free baking method and packed full of vegetables inside. Did I mention, yummy too? BEST EATEN HOT!

This crispy outside, soft inside are available in 6 flavours - 5 savory & 1 sweet with 3 different vegetables to choose from, Chong Qing 梅干菜 (pickled vegetables) $2.50, Jiang Su 雪菜 (pickled greens) $2.50, Xi An 菜类 (mixed vegetables) $2.80. Can’t choose? Why not get all with the Shanghai 全家福 $3. Not forgetting the spicy lovers, sichuan 香辣 (spicy greens) $2.80. Pair it with hot soya bean milk $1.50 or iced chamomile tea $1.80 for the full experience. •
Tried the Chongqing, shanghai and sichuan, I personally love the sichuan as it is not spicy hence able to appreciate the fragrant and spices of it. Next, would be the chongqing then the shanghai because I prefer to taste the vegetables individually instead of having all mixed together which left a confusing taste in my mouth. Their iced chamomile tea has a strong taste and is very light and refreshing!

Outlets: Jurong East interchange & choa chu Kang MRT! Opening soon at Boonlay & Northpoint City.
