Pork Ribs Fried Rice (排骨炒饭) ($6)
Need to wait at least 30 minutes for food buzzer to be v i b r a t e and finally managed to order recommended dish (Pork Ribs Fried Rice). I really like their pork ribs to be tender and chewy and that not hard. I felt that their fried rice was not much taste except a bit of egg flavour. It's quite dry aftertaste tbh for fried rice.

Does it taste like DTF's version? Unfortunately, no. DTF must have their own secret receipe that is not easy to replicate; and especially difficult since the pricetag here is just a fraction of the original. It was still a good plate of Fried Rice nonetheless! Pork Ribs were the star of the show with how tender and flavourful it was.
Dumplings were okay. There was another version that was fancier looking. We only realized after seeing that version on other people's table.

Prawn Fried Rice ($6) is practically identical to Din Tai Fung’s, Pork Ribs Fried Rice ($6) a very close second. Seaweed Salad ($3) & Pan-fried Dumplings ($5) are also value-for-money accompaniments to the meal.

I’m going to be hard pressed to pay full price at Din Tai Fung from now on…

Most people who frequent Din Tai Feng will know that the restaurant does one of the best egg fried rice and that is definitely something that I’ve got to order here. You will inadvertently compare the Pork Ribs Fried Rice ($6) here with Din Tai Feng’s but you have to keep your expectations low as this costs a fraction of the price. In addition, the quality of ingredients used are also slightly different and hence, it lacks the familiar aroma, wok hei and oiliness that’s so reminiscent of what you will get if you order it in the restaurant. The pork ribs on the other hand were well seasoned and tender.

What I would recommend you get are the Zha Jiang Mian ($4.20) and Pan-fried Pork Dumplings ($5). The noodles were cooked till al dente and the sauce contains ground pork with fermented soybean paste and beancurd.

Rumour has it that the chef was from DTF.
Queue forms before opening at 11am.
_
Adore the Dan Dan Noodles, Tomato with Egg Noodles and the Pot Stickers more.
Fried Rice lacks the Wok Hei I am looking for.
Was told these are half the price for the same quantity & quality

Just had to come to try the highly raved, affordable version of DTF. Be prepared to queue. Though the shop only opens for business at 5, the queue starts forming way earlier than that. With around 12 people in front of us, it was a gruelling 2hours wait before we had our orders taken and another half an hour before our orders were served😅 Nevertheless the pork ribs fried rice was really worth the wait. True enough, there was wok hey tasted in the rice and the Chef really did a great job frying because I could taste the egginess in each grain of rice! Unfortunately the pork rib was a little underseasoned and too thin. For that, JuHao serves a better version of the pork ribs in my opinion. As for the Dan Dan noodle, the peanut sauce was more on the savoury side as compared to the sweeter version of DTF’s. Having the seaweed salad added a refreshing note to that night’s spread. Pot stickers were ordered too. The size was rather small but there was a fair amount of soup in them. I was not too sure but the dough kept sticking to my teeth when I ate them. That got a little on my nerves but overall it was a good meal:) For a DTF substitute, I think JuHao fares better 👍🏻

🤯

Hao Lai Ke is a hawker stall opened by an ex-Din Tai Fung chef, serving dishes similar to those available at #DinTaiFung restaurant, such as this Pork Ribs Fried Rice 🐷

It looks rly similar to those tt you get at the restaurant & tasted pretty good. The pork is slightly thinner & the rice is not as fragrant though🍚

But at $6 only, I would say tt this is rly super value for money 👍

Tucked away in Bedok's Happy Hawkers, this stall opened by an ex-DTF chef doles out familiar favourites at a fraction of the price. Think ultra-comforting Pork Ribs Fried Rice ($6), Dan Dan Noodles ($6) and Pan-Fried Dumplings ($5), all under $10 each. The only catch? Weekends warrant about an hour's wait for food — hit this during off-peak hours instead.

When an ex-Din Tai Fung chef opens a coffeeshop stall, this is the first dish most would order. For the fried rice, you get pretty much the same flavour though not the pearly rice grains. For the pork chop, the marination is on the milder side (and seems slightly smaller portion wise), but still nailed it. And for $6? I’d totally come back once the queue/waiting time is much shorter!

Also highly recommended is the lip-smacking steamed chicken side dish!
