Yet another best seller is the Pompom, which, like the tourbillon fruit'the, leans more towards the exotic and tart flavour profile. The green apple cream and jelly added a kick of sourness to the cake. The jelly was perhaps a tad too sour for my liking, and reminded me of canned/preserved fruits, hence i wasn't really a fan of it ๐ However, i reckon that this would make for a great dessert after a heavier meal as its rather light and refreshing in my opinion!

I've only been to the cafe once quite some time ago and tried their Pompom (left) Tourbillion Fruit'The (right). These cakes will definitely appeal to the palate of those who like their desserts refreshing and not overly sweet, as there was a nice level of tartness which came from the green apple and raspberry respectively for the Pompom and Tourbillion Fruit'The. .

The apple mould hid a mousse filled with apple jelly, brimming with refreshing zest. The crumbly base wrapped with white chocolate exuded a pleasant sweetness and provided a nice complementing texture. The components worked in perfect unison for an enjoyable and balanced pastry.

A unanimous hot favourite was this โgreen appleโ, Pompom. A dense layer of nutty pistachio tea cake sits on top of the crumbly citrus shortbread that sets a solid texture for the dessertโs base. Hidden beneath the glossy shell, the green apple cream and jelly was brilliantly created to be light, refreshing instead of sour. Simply enjoy all layers with each bite, as the airy citrusy cream meets the heavier base, and you will find your tastebuds dancing. How lucky we were to have the last piece available. The pretty looking cakes on display further complemented the gorgeous interior. Out of the lot, we got the one that was shaped to resemble a green apple, the Pompom ($9.30). With a citrus shortbread base with green apple jelly filling; it forms the foundation for the green apple cream top. The sweetness of the base and tanginess from the green apple balances the flavours out, making it a good after-meal treat.

The Pompom won my heart over, with not only it's aesthetics but the taste. There was a perfect balance between tart and sweet with the fragrance of apple permeating with each mouthful. An enjoyable dessert indeed!
