Mighty Cheese Steak

$15.00 ยท 12 Reviews

Settled for 2nd best, which was really fine as all - the Grand Poona, which was a toasted baguette stuffed with lots and LOTS of deliciously tender 6hr braised beef pulled and sautรฉed in jus. It was an incredibly juicy and messy sandwich, best eaten with hands. So sinful, but awesome stuff! Thanks @burpple for jio-ing ๐Ÿ˜‰ #burpplegotjio #burpple

We didn't have a full meal here, just a couple of bites of my dining companion's cheesesteak sandwich. It was perfectly flavoured, not overly cheesy, and leaves you wanting more. Lovely welcoming atmosphere too, definitely relaxing if you come outside the usual office peak hours. Will definitely be back to try the other sandwich flavours or takeaway if I'm in the area again!

Mighty Cheese Steak ($15)

It was love at first bite with the heaps of beef, and rich melted cheese. It really was the ultimate cheese steak sandwich. Sadly though, this is one of those times where that love just doesn't last till the end. In my opinion, there was just way too much cheese in there, and along with all that grease, it made for a pretty "jelat" meal to finish. In fact, I was already filled by the time I finished half of it, and finishing the other half was a struggle.

It was really delicious though, at least the first half of it. So if you intend to try it, I'd recommend you share it. And then go to the gym so you don't feel too bad about consuming all that calories!

Mighty cheese steak S$15
Hoagie roll soaked with 4-Cheese roasted beef. Up level sandwiches caring less bout the hype, focusing on execution.

Everything is great about this, the beef, the cheese. You would probably be better off sharing it with someone because of the generous portion. And even if you're a big eater, it will be wise to bring someone along and share a different sandwich. The price comes with a long black or cold black coffee. Plus it's halal! (Rating:๐Ÿ˜ฌ)

This proved to be the grandest of them all (I too had a bite of thy ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿž salmon teriyakz, ๐Ÿง€๐Ÿ„๐Ÿž steak, nutella toast and the ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐ŸŒฑzingy pome salad) Hands down to the yummiest-in-the-tum brioche roll in da that is none at other than this moo๐Ÿฎbah that outshone all dem! ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ $14 for this yum-yum ๐Ÿ‘… ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ (ladies can & should share, so it's technically $7ea? haha ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜„)

The usual case of too-hungry-can-we-eat-already only to realise the tastiness of the food and the ugliness of the photo. Nonetheless, the Mighty Cheese Steak (the one on the left) was awesome, the best out of the three we ordered. Additional 100 points for being Muslim-owned. (Rating:๐Ÿ˜ฌ)

It's pretty much Celebrity Deathmatch: Sandwich Edition between Hungry Bazterds and Park Bench Deli, especially with both offering up their own renditions of the esteemed cheesesteak sandwich. So, who's the winner?

HB's cheesesteak sandwich is stuffed to the gills with thin strips of shabu shabu beef, much like PBD's, but Hungry Bazterds, living up to their name, adds four more thick slices of utterly divine bovine atop the already meaty monstrosity. Each slice of that beef is good enough to go it solo, being tender and jam packed full of savory goodness. Better yet, one of the slices I got was the tip of the beef it was portioned from, allowing me to enjoy the extra powerful flavors on the crust. As for the slices of beef itself, PBD's is just that little bit more tender, which is insane considering that HB's beef is already strikingly tender.

The sumptuous secret 4 cheese sauce is considerably more liquid than PBD's, the former having a tendency to dribble out of the bun upon every bite while PBD's stellar sauce clings on to everything it touches like a toddler to his favorite stuffed animal. As for the bun itself, HB's brioche roll is softer in texture and absorbs more of the umami sauce while PBD goes for that crusty roll to counter the softness of the beef.

Here's where HB pulls out the ace up its sleeve: unlike PBD, HB has melted cheese at the bottom of the bun, leading to that desirable, sexy cheese stretch and even more flavor!

So which one did I prefer? It was a ridiculously tough choice for me as both were extraordinarily divine in their own right, but I preferred PBD's by the slightest of margins only thanks to their crusty roll that added an excellent variety of texture to the cheesesteak. This food war will continue for as long as these two joints continue to serve up phenomenal cheesesteak sandwiches, and this beef ain't going nowhere.

Located on the first floor of the Arcade, this muslim-owned stall serves massive sandwiches that are impossible to eat without getting your hands and face dirty, and that's the fun part! There's only one communal table to sit at and the small shop space can get quite crowded during lunch service, so best to pop by for a takeaway instead. Meat lovers will enjoy tucking into the Mighty Cheese Steak ($15) โ€” tender slices of seared beef stacked in a brioche roll, topped with a cheese sauce and the Grand Poobah ($14) โ€” a hotdog bun stuffed with luscious slow-roasted pulled beef, caramelised onions and stringy melted cheese. What the buns lacks in presentation, it makes up in flavour. Burpple Tastemaker Russell Leong describes the Grand Poobah's generous portion of overflowing beef as โ€œutterly umami and ridiculously richโ€. Wash it all down with the complimentary ice lemon tea or iced black coffee that comes with every sandwich order.
