Power Chendol

There seems to always be a queue here, probably because of how generous they are with the ingredients for the cheap price! The chendol is covered with their thick, gloopy gula melaka syrup (almost like a toffee syrup) thatโ€™s quite strongly flavoured. It really gives an oomph to the chendol. Their green pandan jelly is delicious and fragrant too. A yummy and refreshing dessert and itโ€™s so worth it.

One of the best chendol in SG? Yes agreed. The gula melaka in this ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ ๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ง๐๐จ๐ฅ (~๐’๐†๐ƒ๐Ÿ) was rly thiiccc - aka whatโ€™s needed in a ๐Ÿ’ฏ chendol. So be warned: those who have lighter palates might not like this as much. For me though, I would also have liked it to be less icy. But other than that, definitely give this place a try. Even if youโ€™re not coming here for Chendol, they are good for everything else I think bc I persistently see a queue at the shop.

โค๐Ÿ˜ค Very rich and delicious Chendol (S$2). The stall names it Power Chendol. The gula melaka was very thick and sticky. The green jelly was slightly salty which compliments the sweet brown sugar and red beans. You won't find chendol like this elsewhere. Must try ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Even though Jin Jin is known for their chendol, I surprisingly liked the gangster ice better! They totally didnโ€™t skimp on the massive ball of durian maoshanwang pulp on top, which made the ice really creamy when mixed in, and it actually went quite well with mango. The funny thing is why itโ€™s named gangster ice - because itโ€™s ๆฆด(่Žฒ)่Š’(ๆžœ)ๅ†ฐ in Chinese, so itโ€™s basically ๆตๆฐ“ๅ†ฐ. Hope you cracked up, my mum definitely did!

I have visited this dessert stall many times and amazingly i only tried their Power Chendol for the first time recently (always went for their Gangster Ice).

The chendol was so good! What hit me was the thick and decadent gula melaka atop finely shaved ice, all in its gooey and sticky glory. Complementing that shiokness were fresh coconut milk, red beans, green jelly and attap chee. Oh god, craving for a bowl of Power Chendol now as iโ€™m writing this review, especially in hot weather days like these...

... of Jin Jin Dessertโ€™s Power Chendol. A whole lot of (gula melaka) heaven for 2 bucks at ABC hawker centre.

Theย thick syrupy texture of the gula melaka being the main draw. So gooey, sticky and fragrant, the dark caramel had a very pleasant hint of saltiness. Mix that goodness with fresh coconut milk, red bean, slippery green jelly, attap chee and finelyย shaved ice; and you will get yourself an elevated chendol that hits all the right buttons. Shiok ah!
