Grilled Squid

It was tender and not overly chewy so we could easily bite it off. We chose the squid with chilli and although it was just mild spicy, it was spiced up just nice!

Probably one of the more cost-friendly snack options in town, this food stand at the basement of Bugis Junction serves perfectly grilled and deep-fried seafood snacks, and is incredibly popular among youngsters. Swing by for a post-movie snack and munch on the Grilled Squid ($3.80). It comes with a choice of two glazes, Obasan BBQ and Obasan Fiery sauce. Otherwise, share the Large Crispy Squid ($6.80) with a friend. We're talking flattened squids larger than your face. Large squids tend to overcook, but these colossal beings at Uyi are cooked perfectly thanks to their well-timed system — each squid is fried for exactly four minutes so you get none of that dreaded rubbery texture. Finish off with one of six different powder topping choices ranging from sour plum to curry.

Large Crispy Squid vs Grilled Squid

Taste: they each have the good stuff. The crispy #squid one is easier to chew compared to the grilled one. Personal preference i like the crispiness but the sauce for #grilled is more generous.
Price: $6.80 vs $3.80 well u get more when u pay for the fried one.

Let me warn it might get messy... Hehe maybe i should opt for them to cut for me next time. I don't mind returning for the #crispy one.

This reminded me of the insanely huge squid I had in Korea! Grilled upon order, the texture was great, fresh without being too tough. Obasan fiery sauce was shiok, and not spicy even by my standards. For $3.80, it's quite worth.

They also sell super large fried squid at $6.80 as massive as one's torso 😂
Have a great weekend everyone!
