Sitting in class and dreaming of last week's pasta. A hat-trick of visits here and a hat-trick of satisfaction. Ah Bong's papa definitely doesn't disappoint when it comes to making pasta :)
Economical yet super delish, this is definitely my favouritest pasta place :)
Also, the birthday pasta ($7) which was given free to us because we wanted to try. This was made with black pig bacon and broccoli pesto. It was named the birthday pasta because it was a dish he made for his daughter 2 years back. Tucked in one of Tiong bahru's many coffee shops, this is definitely worth the try!
Make it like your birthday every day.
Ah Bong’s Italian has been on my to-visit list since forever so… I finally got down to trying it by sneaking out the office early yesterday. With the ever changing menu, I did my homework before heading down and kept my fingers crossed that they don’t get sold out. Having the Birthday Pasta (requested with no chilli), I thought that the entire dish was really good and made better because it is so affordable. The pesto sauce was creamy, flavourful and just awesome with my favourite bite-sized bacon added into the mix.
So excited to finally try Ah Bong's after hearing so much about it! Had the birthday pasta with bacon and broccoli pesto. Super tasty, perfectly seasoned and only $7
Another super tasty linguine with brocoli, pesto, bacon and chili. Flavour explodes in your mouth :)
Linguine with bits of bacon, mushrooms, chilli and broccoli pesto. A little spicy but makes it all the more enjoyable. While I liked it, I don't think it's worth it to travel all the way for this. Perhaps a more interesting menu will entice more people to come.
$6 for the pasta (I love broccoli so this was quite delish in a homely way. Served with bacon and cheese. Not a lot of ingredients tho). Mushroom soup was thick tasty and creamy but a little on the salty side. The pork shoulder in milk with lentil ($12) looks unappetizing but loved it! Quite tender, and everything went well together. mummy felt it was a bit gelat towards the end though.
A tasty mix of broccoli, bacon, cheese and garlic. Ratio of ingredients to spaghetti can be improved though!
Seriously tasty, don't overlook this dish when choosing from the daily specials which usually include the tempting Mac n cheese / slow cooked pork ragu. Those choices are just fine, but this is one unique flavor that I can't stop thinking about. Even if you hate broccoli, somehow this broccoli cream & bacon combo is simply delectable. For $6, it was a steal! FYI it's only open for lunch, so if you're in the Tiong bahru area, do check them out :)
