Good & Cheap
If only they could substitute these dry, flat-tasting pork slices colored with red dye with some proper roasted char siew!
Absolutely love their wantons with thin, slippery skins, each filled with a substantial amount of mildly peppery meat! I'm also happy with the char siew, which were lean but not dry nor tough, and the sauce was tasty without being overly salty. Though the noodles were regrettably thicker than normal (I love my noodles thin!), this definitely ranks amongst the top wanton mees in SG!
Caught the chef quarreling with his stall assistant while preparing my bowl of noodles. He must have been so distracted that he unknowingly went overboard with the addition of vinegar!Almost unpalatable, and literally leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
A tasty mix of broccoli, bacon, cheese and garlic. Ratio of ingredients to spaghetti can be improved though!
This was more delicious than I had expected. The fiery Assam gravy is a perfect balance of sour and spicy. Shiok to eat along with rice!
There's a few things that set this humble stall apart from all other yong tau foo places:
Firstly, the black, viscous sweet sauce studded with lots of white sesame seeds which I have not come across anywhere else. Secondly, the thick yet refreshingly sweet-tasting soup that comes with lots of soy beans, and which is refillable too! Last but not least, kudos to the friendly uncles and aunties working there who are always so upbeat and warm no matter how busy they may be!
