That is exactly what Forty Nine is, a pop-up kitchen concept featuring beverages & bakes from @restaurantsalt.sg, peppery soup and dry bak kut teh from Old Hock Kee Bak Kut Teh, and the famous soy sauce chicken from @haikeesg.
Since 1972 and formerly from Joo Chiat Road, Old Hock Kee Bak Kut Teh is renowned for their peppery broth ($8) which is available here at @fortyninesg, with a new creation that is the stir-fried dry version ($9) with dark soy sauce and topped with dried cuttlefish. Between the two, I preferred the latter as not only will you get the spice kick, there is the umami-ness from the sauce. Both go well with a bowl of rice and sides of braised peanuts ($2.50) and preserved vegetables ($2.50).
If you have eaten at any of the Hai Kee outlets, you will definitely be familiar with their signature soy sauce chicken which is available here as a rice order or the Signature Towkay Meal ($7.50), a bento set of soy sauce chicken, homemade beancurd prawn roll, tau kwa, Shanghai greens and braised egg over a bed of fragrant rice. There is also the Char Siew Rice ($5.90) bento box for a quick meal, takeaway or delivery.

That's right. Combining one of Singapore's fav dish, complete with Chilli sauce and garlic, on top of fresh greens. Tasty & healthy! #eatwellwithraffles
