It's been a while. I wasn't hungry and thought this would be safe. As the centrepiece, all the beef was tough. It was so miserable.
Ordered soup version to try their beef soup, usually a good measure of standards. It was so-so. Rarely a hawker would serve semi-raw beef, a sign of their confidence. If only it were as good. Surprisingly, the best component was the thick beehoon. I don't think I've encountered a more al dente one.
Having been relocated from China Square, this stall still sell the various food items from previously. This Dry Beef Noodle ($4) came with thick bee hoon, and the gravy that came with it was thick and flavourful. The beef was tender, chewy, tasty and the portion given was plenty as well!
($5) This is the mixed beef noodles, dry. Overall it was better than average and the dry sauce could have afforded to have been a bit more tasty. Great beef noodles nonetheless!
One of the best eats at Alexandra Village Hawker Centre, this features slippery, thick vermicelli basking in a viscous beef gravy that's rich and tasty with a slightly herbal nuance. The oh-so-tender beef slices themselves are a joy to sink my teeth into, as are the minced beef balls happily soaking in beef soup (not pictured). This latter broth is clear for the most part, clouded only by little wisps of beef, which add to the robustness of its flavour.
Dry this time after trying soup last time. Pass.
