Relax for the weekend over at Capybara-themed gelato cafe at @chatters_gelato !

Visited their bedok outlet for a cozy afternoon of sandwich, gelato, waffle, cake and drinks!

Featured here are the following items:
-Build Your Own Waffle Set ($9.90): Mochi Half Waffle + Mochi Half Waffle + Gelato + Fruit of the day (strawberry) + sprinkle topping (Waffle Crisp and Biscoff Crumble) + Topping Sauce (Salted Caramel Sauce)
-For Gelato, we got the best seller Sicilian Pistachio and Toffee Nut
-Classic Tomato Chicken Handmade Sandwich
-Wild Mushroom Soup
-Lemon Yuzu Sparkling Soda
-Cranberry Sweetie Tea

The mushroom soup here was one of the best I have ever eaten! Super velvety creamy thick mushroom soup! Comes with crispy garlic bread too! The sandwich was a very substantial portion, so it is good to share if you are not a big eater! Comes with light and fluffy Milk Toast, hard boil egg, lettuce, tomato salsa and cucumber!

They have manyyyy different gelato flavours for your picking! For the waffle base, they also have different options like the mochi waffle (qq chewy mochi in it), basic waffle, or croffle! The mochi waffle was super QQ chewy in the interior, with crispy exterior!

They have 3 outlets in Singapore! (Do note that the sandwiches and finger food is only avail at the Bedok outlet)

𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝐰𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐞 (4⭐️; $6.90) - Enjoyable mochi waffle with crisp buttery exterior and chewy slightly sweet mochi interior. One can choose to build your own waffle and we paired ours with blueberries, mini marshmallows, and oreo crumble.

𝐆𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨 (4⭐️; fr $4.20) - Enjoyable range of flavours and we loved the refreshing tangy mandarin sorbet and rich nutty pistachio. They shared roasting and making their pistachio paste and ice cream from scratch!

The Lavender area had been seeing quite a bit of action from the F&B scene recently; the closure of Golden Mile Complex might have brought upon a situation where multiple dining establishments from the complex having resettled in buildings nearby, but there are also other dining establishments not related to the ones previously at Golden Mile Complex which are also opening within its vicinity — perhaps due to the higher footfall in the area these days. Chatters Gelato isn’t a particularly new entrant into the F&B scene; the gelato parlour had already been operating two outlets — one at Blk 122 Bedok North Street 2 and another outlet at Blk 5 Eunos Crescent since late 2022. Their latest outlet at CT Hub had only recently opened its doors in the past couple of months; it is hidden in quite an obscure location that isn’t particularly visible to most unless they venture around the mall — the shop’s facade has been completed blocked off by the climbing walls of BFF Climb, a climbing centre that occupies the podium of the shopping galleria here. Chatters Gelato is pretty simply designed in its CT Hub space; adopting a bright interior setting, the decor theme of the space here could be said as more practical and functional, considering the use of wooden dining tables and tastefully-designed plastic stools replicating that of rattan designs — a decent environment to sit in without too much fuss. As the namesake suggests, Chatters Gelato focuses much on their gelato offerings — patrons can get to choose between a good variety of gelato flavours available in their display chiller, and opt for their gelato to come in a cup, cone or waffle bowl. Apart from those, patrons can opt choose to have their gelato with the Waffle or the Mochi Waffle as well. Aside from gelato, Chatters Gelato also carries a good variety of cakes and tarts for those who prefer to have something else apart from gelato. For beverages, Chatters Gelato serves up a variety of milkshakes churned using their gelato, as well as espresso-based specialty coffee, drinking chocolate, artisanal teas and a series of Sparkling Fruit beverages.

We had passed by Chatters Gelato a number of times at all three locations which they operate from — that being said, we hadn’t been particularly drawn into giving them a try until recently where we had found out that they do carry a series of tarts in their menu. There are quite a number of tarts that are being featured on the Chatters Gelato’s social media pages; that being said, there were only three variations of tarts available when we made our visit to their CT Hub outlet on a weekend afternoon — these being the Salted Caramel Tart, Lemon Meringue Tart and the Gold Cocoa Tart. It is needless to say that our tart of choice was the Gold Cocoa Tart, considering how the other two tarts do seem to be something that one could easily get from other establishments. The Gold Cocoa Tart which we have had does come with a different aesthetic from the one that is being illustrated in their social media posts — the one which we have had came with Chantilly Cream being piped around the sides; all that encircling a glistening golden gelee layer in the middle that sits atop chocolate ganache filling beneath it. The tart shell for the Gold Cocoa tart is also infused with chocolate as well, bearing a darker aesthetic that the usual tart base as seen in their Lemon Meringue Tart. Digging into the tart, we do feel that the tart base is a little softer than the ones that we are used to from establishments such as that of Tarte by Cheryl Koh; this also means that the tart base here does turn a little crumbly when one lands their fork into it to break it apart. That being said, it still does hold up to the elements above relatively well. We can’t quite put a finger to what is exactly in the shimmery golden gelee layer, though we figured it could have been a zippy, citrus-y element that had been sweetened to compliment that of the chocolate ganache filling below. The chocolate ganache here is rich and dense — smooth and luscious without being too “heaty” that it burns the throat, while the Chantilly Cream attempts to balance things out; the cocoa nibs above creating a good crunch while at it.

Apart from giving the Gold Cocoa Tart a go at Chatters Gelato, we also gave Chatters Gelato’s Turtle Brownie Gelato a try. Ordering a scoop of Turtle Brownie Gelato in a cup, it seems that the Turtle Brownie Gelato is only named as such because of the “turtle shell” aesthetic that it comes with from the mix of brownies and caramalised nuts that comes churned into the milk base. This turns out to be quite a safe flavour that could be said as an alternative to Cookies & Cream for those who like to have chunks of nuts in their gelato for a bit of a crunch — while the gelato base here was a bit too sweet for our preferences, we actually quite liked the soft bite that the chunks of brownie added amidst the crunch from the bits of nuts; one that would definitely appeal to those who love their ice-cream / gelato to come with a contrast of textures apart from being just smooth, rich and creamy as with other flavours would. Prices of the gelato at Chatters Gelato starts from $4.20 for a scoop of gelato classes as a “Classic” flavour, while “Premium” flavours are charged at $5.20 per scoop; the cakes and tarts are priced in the range of $6.90 to $7.50 — a price range which we feel is pretty close to what other establishments would charge. Considering it’s location within CT Hub, Chatters Gelato’s outlet here does seem like quite a good spot for a catch-up or with friends or even somewhere to get some work / reading done over gelato and coffee; a decent spot to think about if one is around the Lavender / Bendemeer vicinity looking for a peaceful spot to sit in on a weekend afternoon.
