The Butahageβs secret-recipe sauce was simply delicious but highlight of the meal was the runny and wobbly Ontama (soft boiled egg) to mix with the grilled pork (requires some chewing on my part!) and rice.

One place I had been wanting to visit in ages, and finally did. Wanted to go for the Regular, but couldn't resist getting the premium after the wait staff told me that the premium is "more tender than the regular USA Pork in the regular" β I mean, who doesn't fancy more tender meat?
Overall, quite a delicious bowl; it's more of the comforting sort of dish and a classic done well β indeed, those slices of pan-seared pork were tender and didn't require much chew, savoury from the sauce that was also drizzled on the rice; the rice definitely did not feel anywhere near dry or overly doused in sauce too. Thought it might have been better if the pork had a little smoky flavour, but it's actually pretty good this way too; probably something I wouldn't mind eating even if I were to be sick.
On Halloween I was presented with a trick of the eyes and a treat for my stomach.
Taking a break from wandering around Clarke Quay amidst the colourful costumers I sat down at Liang Court for a large Buta Don ($15?). The trick of the eyes is how compact the bowl looked when presented but behind the many pieces of pork flown in from Japan, was a deep fluffy white bed of short grain rice. And finally the light seasoning and sauce was frightening at how well it brought all the elements together.
The shop prides themselves on remaining authentic especially with their ingredients, but I as I left I couldn't help but have a slight sense of dread over them being able to maintain their reasonable pricing in the shadow of the great food that can already be found in our hallowed city.
Ordered both the premium Hokkaido pork don and USA pork don.... USA one wasn't so good because... The Hokkaido pork is just too good! So tender you just need to lightly chew and savour. Omgg. Price is high though so kinda heart pain I can't eat it many many times T_T
This restaurant serves just this main course - #Butadon. Add #ontama half-boiled egg and miso soup. Champyon. #burpple
