Value for money set meal that consists of the Bangkok Wanton Mee, Tapioca with Coconut Cream & Spring Rolls. Would also recommend the Green Mango Salad as well.
Wanted to try a soupy dish and was recommended this.
It comes with a good amount of pork belly shabu shabu slices, minced meat and pork balls, as well as (a bit lao hong) crackling and lard bits. Such a shame the broth lacked depth of flavour.
Available soup/dry, my dining companion opted for the latter. Unfortunately, we both thought that this was a miss especially with the overcooked noodles and seasoning that lacked a punch.
Another supposed foolproof choice, but a stronger garlic fragrance would have been nice. While not super juicy, the pieces of pork were tender enough.
The set comes with two spring rolls and a tapioca dessert. The former were forgettable but I like how the tapioca wasn't cloyingly sweet. You can also choose to add on a serving of Tom Yum Fish Soup to your set for $2.50, which we did and regretted after biting into over-fried fish fillets (it was almost as if we were biting into pure batter).
If you don't want the frills, it's priced $7.90 ($8.90 with egg) from the a la carte menu.
Instead of ordering Pandan Leaf Chicken, Thai Fish Cake and Mini Spring Rolls separately, sample all three at once with this platter.
The spring rolls were rather unimpressive, filled with mostly shredded cabbage without much seasoning.
The Thai fish cakes fared better, but didn't seem like the homemade type. The pandan leaf chicken was the tastiest, with tender (albeit tiny) chicken chunks marinated in green curry-like blend of spices.
Hard to get this wrong so if you don't want any surprises, this would be a good option. Like most Thai curries, this was on the sweet side. Portion may look small but the creamy broth came with a good amount of chicken slices and soft pieces of eggplant, and was actually filling.
Note that the default comes with egg (not the oozy sunny side up sort), so if you don't want the add-on, do let them know when you order.
