Got to know about Berjaya Western through its social media accounts — these folks are located deep within the Yishun neighbourhood being situated at Blk 292 Yishun Street 22; the stall can be found in a coffeeshop named Best Cafe and is situated somewhere in the middle of the whole coffeeshop. Through its social media accounts, it is being said that Berjaya Western is a Muslim-run western cuisine stall started by a 19 year old alongside two of his friends — quite a bold move to say the least. The offerings at Berjaya Western largely focuses on their fried chicken available to be paired with fries and coleslaw or pasta, with Crispy Shrimp being the only non-chicken option.

The Crispy Chicken Drumstick (2pcs) with Aglio Olio does come with two (2) pieces of deep-fried chicken drumstick and Aglio Olio pasta on the side. The Spicy variant of the fried chicken does come with a slight hint of spiciness in between the meat and the batter; the overall vibes of the fried chicken drumstick does really remind us of the fried chicken drumstick that comes along at old-school western cuisine stores serving up fried chicken wings in the neighbourhood — the golden-brown deep fried batter was crisp without being overly thick, while the chicken does come brined with a familiar savoury note whilst juicy and not too greasy; the flesh being all tender and sufficiently moist. The Aglio Olio in the meanwhile did feel a little short and needed a bit of tweaks that would further entrance the overall experience of the dish; whilst we like how it came with strips of mushrooms and came garlicky enough, we felt that the Aglio Olio was done with a little too much oil while the noodles also lacked a al-dente bite being a little bit on the softer side in terms of texture — would have complimented the experience better with some adjustments to be made. Overall, still a pretty competent offering when compared against other variants of the same dish served up by similar establishments — rather commendable considering the profile of the folks running the stall.
