Ordered daily special waffle and it was Matcha today. Café in the West! Situated just at Nanyang CC. Head down to Archipelago Creamery for your ice cream x waffles fix. Purrfect!

Plated desserts are aplenty here and many feature more abstract designs, but this is one of the few that is pretty straightforward, yet fancy in its own cute and innocent form. Replicating a rubber ducky in a bathtub full of soap, the bright and cheery duck is actually a Frozen Exotic Cocktail that is set in lemongrass foam which covers the other details such as sago, fresh mango purée and Creme Fraiche pudding. This is a dessert for the Mango lovers; the flavour of mangoes were prominent through the whole dessert which was tart and sweet at the same time, with a zingy flavour from the lemongrass espuma around. Sago gives the dessert a bit of chew, but the Creme Fraiche pudding at the bottom is the one that helps neutralize your tastebuds at the end of the dessert by being eggy and cleans up the palate for a well-rounded ending.

Not too bad. Top right - original & lemon pepper. Bottom right - garlic Parmesan & Louisiana Rub. Both boneless wings.

Lola's Cafe recently expanded their shop space into the neighboring unit and 7 Simon Road serves as an extension that serves plated desserts and other sweets while also servicing the mad weekend brunch crowds here. Odd Fellow is one of the three plated desserts on the menu; Passionfruit Curd, Basil Ice-Cream, Cereal Crumble and Meringue. Notably the dessert felt loosely based on Thai flavours possibly due to the use of basil in the ice-cream which gives a sweet herb flavour, accompanied by the tart Passionfruit curd. Meringue was crumbly and sweet, though starts becoming sticky after a while. Wasn't really a big fan of the cereal crumbles which leaves an aftertaste; perhaps they could go with Graham Cookie crumbles instead which would round off the dessert better. At $7 though, this is probably good as all things go; after-all there aren't many around serving plated desserts in a cafe setting and certainly not in such price range.

Carousel’s probably the first place that comes to mind when thinking of where to celebrate a special occasion with loved ones or colleagues. With a resplendent spread featuring Mediterranean, Asian and Japanese cuisines, as well as a mouth-watering seafood spread, French Rotisserie, and three dessert stations (including a chocolate bar!), there is definitely something for everyone. Since it’s popular among big groups, reservations are highly recommended, specially on weekends.

The strawberry tofu cheesecake was soft and the taste of the cheese was light, not so overpowering like some cheesecake would taste like (Now I know why the tofu cheesecake is a best seller) Top with the jelly encased strawberry layer, it gives an additional texture to the cake within a bite. The unicone cakeshake was so pretty 😍😍 Totally instagram-worthy with the fluffy cotton candy and the colourful sprinkles. Our cakeshake comes with a small piece of red velvet cake and waffle sticks. Like it's appearance, the vanilla milkshake taste a tad sweet but other than that there isn't any 'surprise' element. If I'm back here, I probably won't go for it again but I might try another flavour. Prolly the mudslide cakeshake?

Formerly known as Benjamin Browns, newly-revamped bistro concept The Benjamins makes a splashy (re)entrance with the launch of their Over The Top Shakes ($16) — absolutely massive milkshakes topped with everything from the kitchen sink to your mother. Current flavours include Caramel Crunch, Nutella Banana and Tim Tams, but we say go for the creamy and fragrant Coffee Avocado, which is probably the most restrained of the bunch!

Have you tried any of them?
In frame, Lychee Martini ($16) which is totally mind blowing with that bubbling popping effect inside your brain after eating it. I tot it was rather innovative and intriguing.
More pictures and details will be up on blog when I wake up tomorrow. Good night peeps.
Thank you @sophiensyy and @fatcatsg for the media invite.
