Loved the truffle mushroom dumpling and liu sha bao! The prawn fillings for various items were fresh and plump. The har gao packed with prawns encased in a thin skin was good. Didn't enjoy the sourish (where the chilli at?) chilli crab bun though it came with a fair bit of shredded crab meat. Attentive and good service. 40% off dim sum till the end of the year! Crispy crab cakes with a spicy béchamel filling. Seasoning is a bit heavy but I loved it! The hollandaise sauce was a bit too tart but the crab cakes were absolutely fine on their own. Great appetiser to get! Priced at $15.

Lamb chop was average, wasn't cut cleanly though as there were some bone splinters. The mint yogurt and apricot bits felt out of place. Cous cous was rather dry and oily. Overall not something I would get again. Priced at $15.

Scrambled egg was done pretty nicely. The guacamole tasted woody and stale. The pumpkin seeds adds a nice texture to the toasted multigrain bread. Priced at $10.

The waffle was not crispy enough and was rather dense and heavy. Quite like pancake texture. On the bright side, the hazelnut ice cream was creamy and nutty! You might wanna share as the waffles get very heavy.

Enjoyed the chilli crab pizza here! The sweet and spicy eggy chilli crab sauce was spot on, with pieces of shredded crab meat, mozzarella cheese and small cubes of mantou. Perfect with their crispy thin crust! Priced at $28++.

Carbonara can hardly go wrong. This one comes with loads of smoked bacon, Parmesan cheese, sunny side up with a runny yolk and shavings of black truffles. It got very salty from all the bacon though. It would probably be better with more of the creamy béchamel sauce. I like the thin crust here, it's not totally biscuit and you are able to have a bit of the bread texture. Priced at $29++.

Best eggs benny I've had. I absolutely loved the slightly sour hollandaise sauce, which helped to counter the je-lat feeling that came with most eggs benny. Eggs were so perfectly poached- the yolk was gooey, not too runny. And the chorizo were slightly spicy, which I felt added a nice dimension to the eggs benny.

My picks are the sunny-side up eggs with bacon, ham, sausage & lap cheong, egg custard (kaya) bread, and butter & sugar bread. Overall I found the traditional food served at this 80-year-old coffee shop greasy, which made it a tad heavy for breakfast. I say go for the coffee since the watered-down milk tea was one of the worst I've had.

We came here for the coffee, but found the food far more impressive. We had flat whites, which were a little too strong. Not that it wasn't a good cuppa, just a bad flat white. The food on the other hand was stunning. Besides an extensive all-day breakfast menu which we ate from, Roast offers an amazing variety of pastas, meats and seafoods.

While queueing, saw the various chef cooking up a storm in a production line with factory like efficiency, with fiery charcoal fire. There's a faint scent of charcoal flavour. Could there be more charcoal smoky fragrance if they were cooked in smaller portions? Nevertheless we love the sauce and egg, we could come back here in our next trip.
